Bruins vs. Lightning Game 2 Prediction, Stanley Cup Playoff Odds
The Boston Bruins edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semi-finals, building a 3-0 lead and then hanging on to win 3-2. The Lightning will need to start faster and do a better job of capitalizing on their early opportunities if they want to avoid an 0-2 hole. With Game 2 right around the corner on Tuesday, which team has the upper hand in the upcoming contest?
Bruins vs. Lightning Betting Analysis
Even though the Bruins got the win on Sunday, they are now just 3-11 in the last 14 meetings between the teams. The under is 4-1 in the last contests between the two.
Meanwhile, the Lightning are now 14-7 in their last 21 against teams with a winning record. They are also 19-7 in their last 26 in the division. For what it’s worth, they are 10-5 in their last 15 Tuesday games.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins came out sluggishly in Game 1 of their first-round series with the Carolina Hurricanes but that was not the case in Round 2. They came out with much better focus. They built a 1-0 lead late in the first period and they got complete control of the game early in the second when David Pastrnak scored on the power play. The big boys all showed up for the Bruins in terms of the offense was Pastrnak had a goal and an assist, Brad Marchand had a goal and an assist, and Patrice Bergeron had an assist. As for the Lightning’s top guns, they were contained as Nikita Kucherov had eight shots with no points while Brayden Point had just one assist.
The Bruins have to feel great about themselves as they dictated the pace in this game, won the faceoff battle 38-27 and edged the Lightning in blocked shots and takeaways.
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning were hoping to have an easier time of getting pucks in the net with Tuukka Rask out and Jaroslav Halak in, but that wasn’t the case in Game 1. Halak played very well, stopping 35 of 37 shots on net. The Lightning had three power plays and got absolutely nothing out of them. The team was without star Steven Stamkos in Game 1 and there are no further updates on the team’s captain.
The Lightning and Bruins are set to start a back-to-back set with a game on Tuesday and a game on Wednesday. The Lightning have stated that goaltender Andrei Vasilevksiy will start both contests but it is possible the Bruins don’t put Halak in both spots. This is a good chance for Tampa Bay to capitalized either way as Halak, being a backup most of the season, isn’t used to playing this much these days.
