The Calgary Flames look to snap a four-game skid Friday night when the St. Louis Blues come to town. The Flames are heavy -217 favourites to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.

Blues vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds

This will be the first time these western conference foes will face off this season, when both of which are looking to climb back into the wildcard race. St. Louis has won five of their past six meetings including two of three last season. Both teams scored 12 goals in the 2020-21 season series and played the Over twice in the set. Blues goalie Jordan Binnington gave up seven goals in only two periods against the Flames last season and will be looking for redemption in this one.

The Blues covered the spread last night for the third straight game and the fourth time in their past five games, bumping them to 12-18 ATS this season. Giving up 3.7 goals per game is the fourth worst in the league and it has dampened the Blues’ results so far this year. They are 18-10-2 on the Over/Under after playing the Under three games in a row.

In the midst of a four-game losing streak where they have only managed to cover the spread once, Calgary has posted a lacklustre 12-18 record ATS so far this season. The Flames had a push their last time out versus the Canucks with their 3-3 game going to a shootout, making their record on the Over/Under 4-5-1 over the past 10 games. They are allowing three goals per game while only scoring three per game, helping them to a 13-16-1 record on the O/U.

St. Louis Blues

After a seven-game win streak in mid-November the Blues have taken a nose-dive in the standings, dropping eight of their past 12 games. They are looking to turn things around now, after winning back-to-back games over Nashville and Edmonton.

The Blues got off on the wrong foot last night after head coach Craig Berube gifted the Oilers an early powerplay by starting the wrong lineup. That put St. Louis down by one early after they converted on the man advantage. After Jordan Kyrou tied the game the Blues surrendered back-to-back goals to go down 3-1. Robert Thomas scored his seventh of the season, then with only 40 seconds left in the game, Vladimir Tarasenko (9) scored shorthanded to send it to overtime. It got controversial in overtime, after Leon Draisaitl looked to finish the game, coach Craig Berube redeemed himself with a successful coach’s challenge for offside.

Jordan Kyrou would score the lone goal in the shootout to cap off a memorable night for the 24-year-old. After scoring the first goal he would set up the next two for the three-point night as well as the shootout winner.

Jordan Binnington got the net last night, so expect Thomas Greiss to start tonight.

Calgary Flames

Back-to-back shootout losses have extended the Flames losing streak to four games after the 4-3 loss to Vancouver at home on Wednesday.

Calgary found themselves down 2-0 halfway through the first period but battled back with goals from Mikael Backlund (6) and Andrew Mangiapane (7) to cap off a four-goal first period. Trevor Lewis then scored his sixth of the season giving them a 3-2 before blowing it just two minutes later. Jacob Markstrom stopped 24 of 27 shots and gave up the only goal in the shootout taking his fifth straight loss.

The game saw leading scorer Elias Lindholm return to the lineup after missing one game with an upper-body injury as well as defenceman Mackenzie Weegar, who picked up an assist in his return from illness. After taking a slap shot to the head versus the Canadiens on Monday, defenceman Brandon Tanev missed the game on Wednesday and is still considered day-to-day.
