Colorado Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds

The Oilers are looking for revenge after losing their head-to-head 2-1 in a shootout a week and a half ago on home ice. Both squads have won eight of their past 10, but the Avalanche are looking to shake a two-game skid.

Tonight’s matchup is basically a pick ‘em with the Oilers paying out slightly higher at -106 tonight on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5.

Avalanche vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

Both of the games in the season series so far have needed extra time, the Avalanche won both, giving them a chance to sweep the series tonight. Nathan MacKinnon has been the Oilers’ kryptonite, scoring both game-winners, ending game one in Overtime and two in the shootout.

Darcy Kuemper stopped 49 shots and went perfect through the shootout to give the Avalanche a 2-1 win in their most recent head-to-head a week and a half ago.

Colorado has not lost three in a row since October and that has 77 percent of early Moneyline bets taking them to complete the sweep. The Under is 2-0 so far, but the star-studded lineups have 88 percent betting the Over.

The Avalanche were upset in their last two games, putting them behind 38-39 against the spread so far. During their nine-game win streak, they played the Under 5-4 and both of their recent losses have played the Under too.

Edmonton had played six straight to the Under before Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Stars. That put them 39-35 on the O/U on the season. They are still looking to even a 37-40 record against the spread, covering four of their past five.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche have dropped back-to-back games 3-2 first to Washington, then Seattle after going on a nine-game win streak. They fell behind 3-0 early in the first period Wednesday night versus the Kraken, before goals from Cale Makar (27) and Artturi Lehkonen (17) would pull them back within one. Lehkonen got bumped to the first line Wednesday because of Mikko Rantanen’s illness. He has earned the promotion with goals in back-to-back games and seven points (4G, 3A) through nine games in April.

Backup goalie Pavel Francouz made 26 saves in the loss to Seattle, giving Kuemper the night off. Kuemper has been lights out versus Edmonton this season, posting 1.43 goals-against average in two starts.

Edmonton Oilers

Connor Mcdavid wasted no time getting back on the scoresheet Wednesday night, setting up Evander Kane’s 17th to open the scoring 3:12 into the first period. McDavid picked up three points (1G, 2A) in the Oilers 5-2 over Dallas after going pointless in three of the previous four games.

Mike Smith stopped 34 of 36 shots breaking his shutout streak at two games but extending his win streak to seven.

With only five games left in the regular season, Edmonton is starting to look scary, they have a fully healthy roster and have won 11 of their past 12 at home.
