Avalanche vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds, Picks: Colorado favoured in Central Division clash

The high-flying Colorado Avalanche make their first visit of the season to Central Division-rival Winnipeg on Wednesday night. The Jets, eyeing their first home victory, are +150 underdogs on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals.

Avalanche vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

The Colorado Avalanche were the Presidents’ Trophy winners last season and favoured to win the Stanley Cup entering the playoffs but ousted in a surprise sweep at the hands of Las Vegas in the Western Conference Finals. The Avalanche are basically back intact and they look spectacular offensively in the early going, but this is their first road game.

Colorado was just as dominant away last regular season at 29-7-5. Note this is the front end of a back-to-back with the Avalanche in Calgary on Thursday, so that may affect Wednesday’s goaltending choice.

Winnipeg held its own in the 2025-26 series in splitting four games, including the two at home. Superstar Nathan MacKinnon, who was the Hart Trophy favourite for a large chunk of last season but finished third in the voting, had two goals and two assists in the series for the Avalanche. Mackenzie Blackwood was 1-2-0 with a 2.41 GAA and .887 SV in his three outings in net.

Mark Scheifele (3G, 3A) led the Jets with six points and Kyle Connor (2G, 2A) had four. Connor Hellebuyck was in net for all four and had a 2.26 GAA and .920 SV but remains away from the current club amid trade demands. The teams have split the past 10 meetings overall, and the over-under is 3-7.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche have looked incredible offensively in the early going in outscoring their two opponents a combined 14-5 – albeit both in Denver. Those total goals have tied a franchise record through the first two games of a season excluding shootout-deciding goals (1992-93).

The 14 goals scored are the second-most by a reigning Presidents’ Trophy winner through two games, trailing only the 1989-90 Flames (16).

The team has been off since a 6-1 trouncing of St. Louis on Saturday. While Colorado didn’t score in the third period of that one already up 6-0, the Avalanche became the fourth team in NHL history to record two or more goals in each of their first five regulation periods of a season.

Superstar Nathan MacKinnon (2G, 3A) leads the club with five points. Mackenzie Blackwood has been in net for both wins and by all accounts will be Wednesday in the front end of a back-to-back but not out of the question Scott Wedgewood gets his first start of the year.

Colorado is 6-1 in its past seven vs. Central Division foes.

Winnipeg Jets

Considering the Jets are without arguably the world’s best goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck, the team’s 2-0-1 start is pretty impressive. No. 1 Stuart Skinner started the first two and should here.

Clay Stevenson got the call in the second of a back-to-back Monday and led a 3-2 upset victory in Pittsburgh thanks to three third-period Winnipeg goals. Stevenson became only the fifth goaltender to win in his Jets franchise debut with 30-plus saves.

Cole Perfetti’s second goal of the season at 9:02 of the third was the winner and came less than 10 seconds after the Pens had tied it at 2-2. Perfetti is tied for the team lead on five points with Kyle Connor, who didn’t have a point Monday.

Winnipeg hit the post a whopping six times in the game. Wednesday starts a three-game homestand.

The over is 4-0 in the Jets’ past four at home.
