Titans vs. Commanders Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

Before Week 12’s action, the notion that the Tennessee Titans were visiting the Washington Commanders in Week 13 would not have aroused much curiosity. That was then. This is now. The Titans shocked the Houston Texans on the road in Week 12, 32-27, while Washington stumbled at home against the arch-nemesis Dallas Cowboys, 34-26.

Our NFL odds remain confident in the Commanders. They’re perched as -5.5 favourites.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

A lot has changed for these franchises since they last battled on the gridiron. It wasn’t even long ago, with the most recent game coming in October 2022. Given that Ryan Tannehill quarterbacked the Titans (now an unsigned free agent) and Carson Wentz the Commanders (now a backup in Kansas City), it’s safe to say both franchises have turned the page.

The Nashville-based Titans hold a 3-2 edge over a span, dating back to 2008.

There hasn’t been much for Titans fans to cheer about this season. Their team is sunk at 3-8, although QB Will Levis is playing marginally better since coming back off the bench. Betters are to proceed with caution with the team’s lugubrious 2-9 efforts against the spread. That’s right. There was one straight-up win for which they couldn’t even cover (a 20-17 OT win over New England).

When the Commanders successfully executed a Hail Mary in the dying seconds of their 18-15 win over the Bears in Week 8, fate seemed to favour them. Since then, they’ve gone 1-3 and the lone win was against the lowly New York Giants. A tough loss to the Steelers was followed by a trampling at the hands of the Eagles and a shockingly inept defeat to the Cowboys. What was a 7-2-1 ATS tally is now 7-4-1.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans and their fans will take victories any way they can get them in 2024. Week 12 in Houston was a special case, though.

An early 7-0 deficit caused mostly by an excellent opening kickoff return by the Texans didn’t dampen Tennessee’s spirits. Levis launched a beautiful 38-yard strike to WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine late in the first quarter for a 10-7 lead, followed by a second quarter, red zone 10-yard scamper by Tony Pollard to the house to make it 17-7. This was in Houston.

The visitors applied solid pressure on the Texans’ offence all afternoon, with Kenneth Murray Jr. and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. picking off C.J. Stroud.

WR Chig Okonkwo scored a sensational catch-and-run, 70-yard TD in the fourth quarter to make it 30-27. Luck was on their side as the Texans missed a late game-tying field goal, with the icing on the cake a sack on Stroud in Houston’s end zone with less than two minutes left. It sounds incredible, but the Titans win, 32-27.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders had the Cowboys right where they wanted them. For whatever reason, the Cowboys are better away side this season and they reminded the Commanders of that very fact.

The rivals combined for a stunning 41 points in the fourth quarter. Down 20-9 in a sleepy affair, Jayden Daniels guided the offence with confidence for the first time all day (he was picked off twice). He connected with TE Zach Ertz on a four-yard score and ran in for a two-point conversion to make it a palatable 20-17.

But a spectacular TD kick-off return by Dallas made it 27-17. Not to worry. Washington first kicked a field goal (27-20). The Cowboys would go three-and-out and kick the ball back to the hosts. Daniels remarkably connected with Terry McLaurin for an 86-yard TD with 21 seconds remaining. But with a chance to tie the game, Austin Seibert’s extra point attempt went wide. Dallas would score again on the onside kick-off attempt to make it 34-26.

Washington loses a wild one, 34-26.
