Titans vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction
One month in, every team in the division has a record of 2-2.
Both teams are in quite different states though, making for an interesting divisional battle. The Titans are attempting another run with a good but not good enough cast that keeps getting older. The Colts have hit the reset button but find themselves just as competitive as everyone else in their division, despite the rookie quarterback and young talent across the board. And oh, Jonathan Taylor may be making his season debut for the Colts this weekend.
Kickoff at Lucas Oil Stadium gets started at 1 p.m. EDT, and oddsmakers currently have the Titans as 1.5-point road favourites with the total at 42.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Titans enter Sunday on a five-game win streak against Indianapolis, but straight up and against the spread. Tennessee’s covered in five of their last six trips to Indianapolis too. Running back Derrick Henry has gone over 100 rushing yards in six of his last seven contests versus the Colts, but has received at least 22 carries in six of the seven games too.
The Colts have failed to cover in five straight home games and are winless in two home games this season. The Titans are winless in two road games so far, meaning something will give come Sunday in Indy. The Colts are 16-4 outright in their last 20 Week 5 games over the years.
Tennessee Titans
Tennessee got a much-needed offensive rebound in Week 4 when they put up 400 yards and 27 points in a 24-point victory versus Cincinnati. Tennessee had already gone up by three scores at the half, two of which came from Derrick Henry. The star running back totalled 122 yards and a score on the ground in the win while also throwing a two-yard touchdown to rookie tight end Josh Whyle.
The Titans possess the eighth-ranked defence when it comes to points allowed (17.5 per game). Defensive linemen Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons have combined for 6.5 sacks and seven tackles for a loss so far, and both will play key roles if Tennessee is to get the best of a more run-heavy opponent in the Colts.
Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis faced a 23-0 second half deficit last weekend, and then the comeback was on. Led by rookie pivot Anthony Richardson, the Colts rallied off 23 points to force overtime but lost in the extra frame without ever touching the ball. Richardson finished with 256 total yards, 200 passing and 20 rushing, and three total touchdowns.
And the big news out of Indianapolis is Jonathan Taylor returning to practice. Taylor’s been out since December with a list of injuries along with a contract dispute but head coach Shane Steichen has yet to confirm whether Taylor will indeed play or not in Week 5. Taylor led the NFL two seasons ago with 1,811 rushing yards.
