Texans vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
Both clubs had extended periods off from the normal Sunday to Sunday schedule, as Houston hosted Philadelphia on Thursday last week, and fell 29-17, while the Giants had their bye week.
The 1-6-1 Texans are at the very basement of the NFL’s standings and are hoping to snap a three-game skid. New York’s been arguably the surprise of the NFL season at 6-2 but still need to keep up pace if they’re to get into the top half of their NFC East division.
Kickoff at MetLife Stadium gets going at 1 p.m. EST, with the Giants 6.5-point favourites on home field and the total at 40.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The NFC hasn’t been too kind to Houston, who are winless in their last eight contests versus an NFC opponent. When it comes to the Giants playing the AFC, the under is the play — it’s 11-1 in New York’s last 12 outings versus AFC opponents. The under’s been a smart move all season in Giants games, with it being 6-2 on the season.
New York’s got a top 10 defence when it comes to points allowed (19.6 per game) and their offensive is 22nd with 20.4 points per game. Houston ranks 28th in scoring (16.6 points per game) but the over Is 4-2 in their last six outings.
Houston Texans
Another week, another failure for the Texans to score over 20 points. Houston’s accomplished that feat just one time in their eight appearances this season, as the Texans kept it dead even with the undefeated Eagles at halftime before scoring three points in the final 30 minute.
Houston made it an emphasis to run the ball with rookie back Dameon Pierce, who had career-highs in carries (27) and yards (139) versus Philadelphia. Pierce sits sixth in the NFL with 678 rushing yards despite Houston ranking 24th in rushing attempts per game with 23.5 as a team. The Texans are 26th with 188.6 passing yards per game, so a shift on offence is needed.
New York Giants
The Giants had a four-game win streak snapped they last time they took the field but there’s still a lot to like with this team as they approach the middle of their season. While they’re not lighting up the scoreboard, New York’s offence has found a groove running the football. They rank fifth in the NFL with 161.5 rushing yards a game and a healthy Saquon Barkley is third in the NFL with 779 rushing yards. Quarterback Daniel Jones is fourth among QBs with 363 yards on the ground too.
New York’s going to be without some additional players on defence as safety Xavier McKinney injured his hand over the bye week. Defensive tackle Nick Williams and cornerback Aaron Robinson are out for the year too. In positive news, receiver Kenny Golladay is aiming for a return this weekend.
