Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Chiefs hold a 33-18 lifetime advantage against the Seahawks during the regular season, including winning the last three meetings. Not much recent history here between these two franchises, as the last time they met, was back on November 16, 2014, with the Chiefs squeezing out a 24-20 win.

“It’s Alex’s job, that’s what it is. There’s no grey area with that,” explained Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid to the Kansas City media this week and for good reason. To some, the Chiefs might be experiencing a quarterback controversy because of the stellar play of their first round pick Patrick Mahomes II. Mahomes II is 17 of 23 in passing for 137 yards, plus 3 touchdowns in parts of 2 games, but Reid insists the starter’s job belongs to Alex Smith come regular season, stay tuned.

Something to watch for in this game is the Chiefs running attack. It racked up 223 yards against the Bengals with Charcandrick West raising the bar with 113 yards on only 7 carries. Rookie Kareen Hunt registered 40 yards on 8 carries and will be given another opportunity against a Seahawks defence that ranked 5th (318.7 yards) during the regular season.

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson looked good, completing 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards and no interceptions vs Vikings. So far in the preseason, Wilson is 16 for 22 for 247 yards, and it appears he may have found himself another receiving weapon. Kasen Williams (undrafted – Washington) has caught 6 passes for 147 yards, and a touchdown and is making a bid for a regular spot on the roster.

The Seahawks suffered a massive loss in their last preseason game, as offensive tackle George Fant tore an ACL, he will miss the entire 2017 season. Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll expects second-year player Rees Odhiambo would get a shot to replace Fant, or the team could also move Luke Joeckel over from left guard.
