Saints vs. Titans Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction
Week 17 continues on Sunday with several great games that are crucial as it pertains to the postseason. That said, one game that has little to no value towards the playoffs will see the New Orleans Saints take on the Tennessee Titans.
Both the Saints and Titans are eliminated from the postseason; however, that’s not to say that there isn’t some incentive for both teams to give their best effort. With a combined eight wins this season, there’s not much to expect in this game; however, still plenty of reason to get involved from a betting perspective.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
When looking at the NFL odds board, we immediately see that the New Orleans Saints are small road favourites. The total is also below 40, so this should be an absolute slugfest between two squads with nothing to play for but a draft spot.
As bad as these teams have been this entire season, they both have respectable records against the spread. Note that the spreads in their games are generally larger; both the Saints and Titans are 7-8 ATS. Further, New Orleans is 4-3 ATS on the road, while Tennessee is 4-4 ATS at home.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints enter this game with a record of 5-10 and are in last place in the NFC South. While they’re eliminated from post-season contention, the Saints have won three games in a row, most recently beating the New York Jets in Week 16 by a score of 29-6.
Their offence has looked more efficient during their win streak, as they are averaging 24.3 points per game, while allowing 14.3 points per game. New Orleans still could be without RB Alvin Kamara, although he is questionable this week, which would only help their improving offence. Kamara has been out of action since Week 12.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans enter this game with a 3-12 record and are in last place in the AFC South. Tennessee also has the fifth-worst record in the NFL, and thus, has long been eliminated from the playoffs. That said, the Titans won their most recent game, beating the short-handed Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16 by a score of 26-9.
Tennessee has particularly seen an increase in offensive efficiency over their last three games, as they’ve put up 27.0 points per game. Despite this, their defence has remained inconsistent, as they’ve allowed 25.0 points per game.
Who Will Win Saints vs. Titans?
As mentioned, neither team has had a good season. However, New Orleans has still been the more consistent team throughout the season, both offensively and defensively. They are playing well at the moment, so even though Tennessee just crushed Kansas City, the New Orleans defence looks to be strong enough to slow down the improving Tennessee offence.
The Saints have only won twice on the road this season; however, the Titans have only won once at home. For that reason, backing the New Orleans Saints to cover and win 31-20 will be our play.
