Ravens vs. Dolphins TNF Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction

The Ravens got their first win in six weeks, and their first victory without Lamar Jackson under center in nearly three years, with a 30-16 triumph over the Chicago Bears. Tyler Huntley was a major improvement over Cooper Rush, accounting for 239 yards and one score. Derrick Henry added two touchdowns rushing. For Miami, Tua Tagovailoa looked completely different in Week 8, throwing for 205 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-10 thrashing of the Atlanta Falcons.

Both teams had their best defensive performances of the year, holding their opponents to their least point totals of the season, respectively.  Now, Baltimore eagerly awaits confirmation on Jackson’s return.

Thursday Night Football Point Spread and Betting Analysis

On the NFL odds, the Ravens are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games and 0-2 ATS on the road this year. However, they are 10-2 ATS and 9-3 straight up in their last 12 meetings with Miami. The Dolphins are 4-2 against the spread in their last six games.

Despite both teams’ strong defensive performances last week, that aspect of the game has been a significant weakness. Both teams are allowing over five points more than they are scoring per game. Miami has played to the Over in six of eight games, while the Ravens have done the same in six of seven contests.

Baltimore Ravens

This is a key stretch in the Ravens’ quest to get back into playoff contention, as it is the first of three straight road games. Baltimore allowed 78 points in two losses away from home earlier this season, albeit it was against the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. They are still allowing 30 points per game (30th in the NFL), which is mind-blowing for this franchise.

Baltimore averages 32.8 points when Jackson is under center. Additionally, Derrick Henry may have quietly broken out of his recent rut. He is currently listed at +230 to score the Ravens’ first touchdown and +375 to score the game’s first touchdown and should be a strong consideration for both.

Miami Dolphins

Tagovailoa is tied for the league lead with 10 interceptions. He threw three picks in each of the two games before last week’s four-touchdown explosion. He’ll need to repeat that performance a few more times before anyone can erase his earlier performances under center and at the podium.

The Dolphins received prime production from running backs De’Von Achane (91 all-purpose yards and a touchdown) and Ollie Gordon II (66 all-purpose yards and one touchdown) as coach Mike McDaniel, with his job still on the line, places more emphasis on the ground game.

With WR Tyreek Hill out for the season and TE Darren Waller sidelined, Tagovailoa’s ability to spread the ball around is key. Nine different Dolphins had catches against Atlanta, and four – Achane, Gordon II, Jaylen Waddle, and Malik Washington – had touchdown catches.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Ravens vs. Dolphins?

The expectation is that Jackson will play Thursday night. Neither team is reliable right now, but Jackson’s presence does make Baltimore the more formidable squad. Look for the team to get a major boost with him out there and defeat the host Dolphins, 31-17.
