Rams vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 16 TNF Odds, Prediction

One of the NFL’s most entertaining current divisional rivalries takes place again Thursday at 8:15 pm ET as the Seattle Seahawks host the NFC-leading Los Angeles Rams in a matchup with massive playoff implications.

Los Angeles is now 11-3 after a 41-34 victory over the Detroit Lions. The Rams have won two straight and clinched a postseason berth for the third straight season. Seattle struggled offensively at home, needing six field goals from Jason Myers, including a game-winning 56-yarder with 29 seconds left, to prevail over the fading Indianapolis Colts, 18-16, and improve to 11-3 as well.

The Rams are looking for the season sweep, but will likely be without WR Davante Adams, the NFL’s leader in receiving touchdowns (14).

The Week 16 NFL odds board has the Rams listed as 1-point road favourites.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Both teams are 8-1 straight up and 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games.

The Rams are 7-3 straight up and 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Seahawks, although Seattle covered as a 3.5-point dog in a 21-19 loss in Los Angeles last month. Los Angeles is 11-2 ATS in their previous 13 road contests, dating back to last season, and the Rams are 5-0 ATS in their latest five games in Seattle. Five of the last six matchups between these two have played to the Under.

Matthew Stafford is listed at -110 to throw 2+ touchdown passes, something he has done in eight straight games, and 12 times in 14 contests this season. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the NFL leader in receiving yards (1,541), is +100 to record 100+ receiving yards on Thursday night, something he has done nine times this season. That includes a 105-yard effort against the Rams last month and 113 yards against the Colts last week.

Los Angeles Rams

Adams, who has been limited by hamstring injuries at various points this season, is questionable for this game. He works perfectly in tandem with WR Puka Nacua, who gets the catches and yards (102-1,367) with Adams in support as the prime red zone target. Their presence is a major factor in why Stafford’s 37 touchdown passes are eight more than the next quarterback.

Meanwhile, the running game, which has produced three touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time in 25 years, is beginning to click. The tandem of RB Kyren Williams (15-78-2 TDs against Detroit) and second-year back Blake Corum (11-71-1) gives Los Angeles’s second-ranked offence even more diversity.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are on the verge of their first playoff appearance in three years. With the Rams and the 10-4 San Francisco 49ers hovering in the division, there is no time to waste. That means the Seahawks’ offence, which has produced no touchdowns and averaged just six points in the first half of each of their last three games, needs to pick it up.

Smith-Njigba is an All-Pro, but Myers is probably Seattle’s most lethal offensive weapon right now. He has made 24 of his last 25 field goals and has already scored a career-high 154 points this season. Myers’ only miss was a 61-yarder as time expired in the 21-19 setback at the Rams last month.

Who Will Win Rams vs. Seahawks?

The last four games between these two have come down to one score, with the average margin of victory just 3.5 points. That includes L.A.’s two-point triumph at SoFi in Week 11, and a 26-20 overtime victory in Seattle last year.

Look for a similar result, with the Rams getting the edge yet again, 24-21.
