Rams vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Week 11 Odds, Prediction

Sean McVay’s Rams and Denis Allen’s Saints have slid in the standings as of late due to losing streaks. Seasons that held promise have soured and, with Week 11 upon us, the clock is ticking.

New Orleans is seen as -4 favourites on the NFL odds. Moreover, the over-under is expected to be 39 points.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The last time these teams met on the gridiron was back in 2019, in which McVay’s troupe won 27-9. Including the playoffs (2018 NFC Championship game), the Californian club has vanquished its Louisiana foe in four out of the past six contests. Curious stat: the playoff game is the only one of those six won by the road team.

The Rams are a paltry 2-6-1 against the spread at this stage in 2022. It’s no surprise when considering how poorly their title defence has gone, what with a 3-6 win-loss record. Their only covers have been against Arizona (to whom they lost, ironically, in Week 10) and a meandering Panthers squad. Even when slight underdogs, they’ve been blown out in games.

As for the Saints, the team has amassed a 3-7 tally ATS, which is precisely what their numbers look like in the win-loss columns. Their only cover in the past five weeks was a home tilt against the Raiders, but the latter is a squad totally lost at sea.

Los Angeles Rams

“Defending Super Bowl champions” is only technically correct. Realistically, L.A. is one of the worst title defenders in a long, long time. Even the 2016 Denver Broncos, who missed the playoffs, put up a decent 9-7 record.

Not helping matters is the fact that the complete absence of a running game has finally come back to haunt them. Matthew Stafford, who is currently in concussion protocol, has not been able to guide L.A. offence with the whiz paw he did in 2021. Cooper Kupp will not repeat as Triple Crown king suffice it to say, and the Allen Robinson signing has disappointed. Last week at home to the Cardinals was a battle of backup QBs that Arizona’s veteran Colt McCoy took over L.A.’s John Wolford, who looked like a dear caught in the headlights at times. The worst part is the 27-17 defeat looked like a lot of games Stafford started.

New Orleans Saints

Coach Dennis Allen keeps sticking with QB Andy Dalton, hoping that the veteran will lend a spark to the offence. The past three weeks have demonstrated the opposite effect: a decline in attacking production. Jameis Winston awaits in the wings, and at this stage with a 3-7 record, why not put him in?

Injuries to CB Marshon Lattimore and some key offensive linemen haven’t helped, but it’s Week 11. Everyone is banged up. The Saints simply aren’t marching much. Last week’s 20-10 defeat to the Steelers was an eye-opening experience as to how things have gone wrong in a variety of ways this season. Pittsburgh’s 22nd ranked rushing attack gashed the Saints defence for a whopping 217 yards on 43 attempts and a 5.0 average per tote. RB Najee Harris, pretty much MIA all season, broke out for 99 yards. One bright spot for the Saints this year has been rookie WR Chris Olave. With 658 yards on the year, he could complete his first campaign with 1,000.
