Rams’ Running Back Room Changing, Cam Akers Trade Talk
There has been reported discontent with running back Cam Akers and his role in the Los Angeles Rams’ attack since last season. Given that he was a healthy scratch in Week 2’s 30-23 loss against the San Francisco 49ers, reports on Monday indicate that he may be trade bait.

Rams’ RB Cam Akers Trade Talks
The delicate relationship between Cam Akers and the Rams dates to the 2022 campaign. Fans will recall that his name was mentioned when the trade deadline loomed. That never materialized and, lo and behold, Akers finished the season with strong numbers.
But head coach Sean McVay seems to favour Kyren Williams, who is getting the lion’s share of touches. Against San Francisco, he was handed the rock 14 times and ran for 52 yards and one score.
McVay had this to say to the press about starting Williams:
“Coach’s decision, felt like that was best for our football team. Felt like Kyren gave us the best opportunity and what Ronnie (Rivers) and Royce (Freeman) had done, o that was the decision I made.”
And about his relationship with a reportedly disgruntled Akers:
“I have tremendous respect for Cam Akers, but I felt like for our football team today and in this game and as we move forward, that was going to be the best decision for us.”
The Los Angeles Rams head to Ohio for a date with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in Week 3.
