Patriots vs. Vikings Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Odds, Prediction

Each team started their preseason off strong with solid victories and will look to continue the trend in this game.

Part of an 11-game slate, this is one of Saturday’s early games and should help kick off what will be a great day of football. One team will remain undefeated, continuing a great start to the preseason and potentially building momentum heading into the regular season. The most current odds on this game can be found at Sports Interaction.

NFL Preseason Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Patriots obliterated their opponents in Week 1 of the preseason, taking down the Commanders by 30 points. The Vikings, meanwhile, won by a respectable 10 points. However, these NFL odds show we could be in for a close matchup.

The Patriots come into this game as a light 2.5-point favourite, which comes with a money line value of -140. Their dominant performance in Week 1 of the preseason plays a big role in them being multi-point favourites on the road.

As for the game totals, an average total of 38.5 points has been set, with equal odds on the over and under.

Will New England thrive and run up the scoreboard again, or can Minnesota lock down a second straight game in a low-scoring victory?

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots’ crew hits the road after playing Week 1 of the preseason at home. They showed complete dominance in a 48-18 win over the Washington Commanders, which is a great morale boost.

New England currently has 21 active players who are aged 23 or younger, including 21-year-old OT Will Campbell who was drafted fourth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and made his preseason debut last week.

There is ample opportunity for the players on this rebuilding team, and as the preseason progresses, these players must amplify their play.

The rushing game was incredible last week with four touchdowns coming on the ground, including 31 rushing attempts overall. With that being said, it was an all-around effort from all sides of the ball. Now we will see if they can replicate this effort.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings began their preseason with a 20-10 victory. In front of their home crowd, the Vikings were able to completely shut down a Houston Texans team that scored just three points in the final three quarters.

However, their performance was not all perfect. A run game of 2.9 yards per carry, two fumbles and just two sacks are some concerning factors. They will need to clean up this play, especially on home turf.

After an incredible 14-3 record last season, the Vikings need to use this preseason to tinker with their roster to ensure it has a better chance of going further than their devastating 27-9 loss on Wild Card Weekend last season. There has been lots of turnover, which makes this an intriguing team to watch.

Preseason Prediction: Who Will Win Patriots vs. Vikings?

As the preseason progresses, we should start to see more starters hit the field throughout the games. I expect that to occur in this game, but New England’s youthful revamp seems to be sparking excitement and hope within the organization.

I like New England’s quarterback room with young buck Drake Maye and veteran backup Josh Dobbs more than Minnesota, which possesses rookie JJ McCarthy and backup Sam Howell. These four will likely get a lion’s share of the game.

Minnesota may have won last week, but they were able to score just 20 points after intercepting the ball three times and having four fewer penalties. This is because they ran for just 2.9 yards per carry, while averaging 4.1 yards per play.

Their defense looked extremely sound last week, but they could be surprised by this energetic Patriots unit that just dropped 48 points. I expect the New England Patriots to win by a score of 21-14.
