Panthers vs. Bills Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
A three-game losing streak has dropped the 5-8 Carolina Panthers to last in the NFC South and without a true starting quarterback, and now they enter Bills Mafia this Sunday against Buffalo. At 7-6, the Bills have been slumping themselves, dropping two-straight games after falling in overtime at Tampa Bay and then versus New England the week before.
Buffalo’s still well in playoff contention, but they’ll need to put together a string of wins to possibly take back the AFC East. A win streak could get the Panthers in a playoff spot considering the final NFC spot belongs to a sub .500 club.
Kickoff at Highmark Stadium goes at 1 p.m. EST. The Bills are 10.5-point home favourites to win with the total at 44.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Neither of these clubs have performed well against the spread recently. Buffalo’s covered in just of their last six games, while the Panthers are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10. The Bills are only 3-3 at home straight up in 2021, so home field advantage hasn’t rung true.
Contradicting the Panthers’ 2-8 ATS record overall is their 10-3 ATS record in their last 13 road games. Meanwhile Buffalo’s 10-3 straight up in their last 13 at home. With a double-digit spread, there’s a sweet spot where the Bills win the game and Carolina covers and both trends live on.
Carolina Panthers
One of three quarterbacks could start for Carolina Sunday. First is Cam Newton, who’s fallen off a cliff since a brief comeback bid beginning in Week 10 and going 0-3 as a starter. P.J. Walker is an option, and someone who’s replaced Carolina’s starters during poor outings. Then, there’s Sam Darnold, who’s started nine games this season and is now off the injured reserve.
It’s a shame the Panthers have yet to figure it out under centre, considering they have a top-10 defence when it comes to both yards and points against. Carolina ranks second with 293 yards against per game, and eighth while allowing 21.7 points per game
Buffalo Bills
After injuring his foot last week, quarterback Josh Allen was limited in practice Wednesday. Former first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky would get the start if Allen can’t go Sunday. Allen and the Bills gave the Buccaneers everything they could handle in Week 14, but fell short. Allen’s unit put up 24 points in the second half and 466 yards of offence. The banged up pivot became the fourth NFL player to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in a losing effort.
Receiver Stefon Diggs moved into both the top 10 in receptions (78) and yards (972), making for a key matchup against a league-best Panthers’ pass defence.
