When one superstar quarterback plays in the opposite conference of another star signal-caller, they face off just once every four years barring a Super Bowl meeting. When two stellar QBs compete in the same conference, they can play very frequently because they often have first-place schedules. The latter is the case for Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Thursday night will mark the sixth meeting between the Packers and Seahawks since the 2014 season. Their most memorable one and the last game in Seattle was following the ’14 campaign when Green Bay looked Super Bowl-bound with a 19-7 lead with just over two minutes left in the NFC Championship Game.

Wilson scored on a 1-yard run with 2:09 remaining to cut it to 19-14. If the Packers can handle the ensuing onside kick, they win. Except, Brandon Bostick couldn’t and Seattle got control. Long story short, the Seahawks would win in overtime and eventually lose a thriller to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.

Rodgers got the upper hand last regular season at Lambeau in a 17-9 Week 1 victory. He threw for 311 yards and a score, while Wilson was held to just 158 and Seattle 225 total yards. It was the Packers’ third straight regular-season victory vs. Seattle.

The home team is 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Green Bay Packers

Green Bay got back to .500 with a 31-12 win over the visiting Dolphins on Sunday. For once, Rodgers wasn’t asked to do it all by himself as Aaron Jones ran for a career-high 145 yards and two scores. It’s about time the Packers started using Jones more as he leads the NFL in yards per carry yet hadn’t gotten more than 14 in a game yet this year. He had 15 on Sunday.

Rodgers did have two TD passes to Davante Adams but threw it a season-low 28 times overall. Green Bay lost four defenders to injury in the game: linebacker Nick Perry and cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland, Kentrell Price and Jaire Alexander. Not good news on a short week. The Packers are 4-0-1 at home this year and 0-4 on the road.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks gave the excellent Rams all they could handle (again) on Sunday but lost 36-31 in L.A. Russell Wilson had three TD passes, but with the Seahawks at the L.A. 35 in the final minute, he had four straight incompletions. Seattle gashed the Rams for 273 yards rushing. Rookie Rashaad Penny had his best game with 108 yards and a TD on 12 carries. Fellow running back Chris Carson and guard D.J. Fluker both sat due to injuries. Linebacker K.J. wright didn’t finish due to a knee injury.

Every Seattle loss this season has been by one score (eight points or fewer) and the two to L.A. by a combined seven points. The Seahawks are money on Thursday, going 7-0-1 ATS in their past eight.
