Aaron Rodgers has already proven twice this season that he’s capable of leading the Green Bay Packers even at far less than 100 percent health. But Sunday afternoon presents a different challenge altogether, as Rodgers and his balky knee hit the road for the first time this season to face Washington. The hosts are coming off a surprisingly dismal showing last time out, settling for three Dustin Hopkins field goals in a 21-9 loss to the visiting Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Washington is getting three points despite being the home team and has underwhelmed in this situation in recent history, having covered just twice in its last six games as home ‘dog. Things haven’t gone much better for the Packers as a road fave; they’ve gone just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games in this scenario, including three straight-up losses. Green Bay has, however, covered in nine of its previous 13 games in September.

The number sits at 45.5 for this one, and these teams come in with vastly different totals trends. Green Bay has cashed the over in 24 of its past 31 games overall, and is a stunning 36-17 O/U in its past 53 road games. Washington, on the other hand, has converted the under in each of its past six games and is 1-4 O/U in its last five against conference opponents. The teams last met in 2016, with Washington cruising to a 42-24 triumph.

Green Bay Packers

Doctors have suggested that Rodgers shouldn’t be playing on his injured knee – but try telling him that. Rodgers was unspectacular but suitably efficient in Week 2, throwing for 281 yards and a touchdown in a 29-29 tie with the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers picked Washington apart in their previous meeting two years ago, racking up 351 passing yards and three TDs in defeat. The Packers have seen at least 48 total points scored in 12 of their last 19 road games.

Washington Redskins

While Kirk Cousins crushed the Green Bay defence with 425 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s draw, the guy throwing passes for his old team had a decidedly less impressive Sunday against Indianapolis. Alex Smith threw for 292 yards in defeat, but needed 46 attempts to get there and didn’t have a TD pass. On the plus side, Smith has completed better than 70 percent of his passes through two games and has yet to throw an interception.
