During the Packers' 4-game win streak, running back Aaron Jones has 271 rushing yards and 280 receiving yards. He leads the league with 11 total touchdowns, eight rushing and three receiving.
The Packers beat a Mahomes-less Chiefs team at Arrowhead Stadium and the Los Angeles Chargers are also coming off a win, albeit a lucky one. They broke a three-game losing streak when the unlucky Bears missed a field goal.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
These two teams don’t get to play each other very often. In fact, they’ve only clashed eleven times in the last 49 years, and in those games, the Chargers have only been victorious once – in 1984. The Green Bay Packers have are 10-1-0 in this sparse series, winning the most recent matchup in October 2015, with a final score of 27-20.
The Chargers are hosting the surging Pack this Sunday, but they’re still priced as +3 home underdogs. The Pack are 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 road games.
Green Bay Packers
Could Green Bay still win games without their star wide receiver, Davante Adams, in the mix? Many thought they’d struggle offensively without him, and many were dead wrong. If anyone can make it work with a diminished stable of weapons, it’s Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has been finding targets in lesser-known teammates, and he’s setting up running backs to make huge passing plays.
Running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams have been game-savers. In Sunday night’s matchup against the Chiefs, Jones caught two touchdown passes and Williams caught a wild one for a TD that made Rodgers look like a wizard. That game marked the first time in Rodgers’ career that he scored three touchdowns when throwing to running backs. It should be noted that Aaron Jones, who is currently the best-performing RB in the league, makes $695,487 a year.
Davante Adams was injured in Week 4, during the only game that Packers have lost, against the Philadelphia Eagles. There’s a good chance we see Adams return to face the Chargers this week.
Los Angeles Chargers
It was Chicago Bears kicker Eddie Piñeiro who won last week’s game for the the L.A. Chargers, when he missed a field goal with the game clock expiring. With that bad kick, the Chargers beat the Chicago Bears with a final score of 17-16.
Chargers QB Rivers only completed 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards. He got a touchdown, but was also intercepted. With that win, the Bolts’ season now stands at 3-5.
Despite snapping a three-game losing streak, the organization still decided that things need to change, and so on Monday the team relieved offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt of his duties. The team has not announced a new offensive coordinator, but quarterback coach Shane Steichen will call plays in the interim.
The Chargers currently rank 23rd in the league for points scored per game.
