NFL Week 10 Odds and Predictions: Best Picks Against the Spread
Here’s a quick look at all Week 10 NFL games, played Sunday unless noted.
Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears, Thursday
It would benefit the Bears double to win Thursday because they hold Carolina’s first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft thanks to last March’s trade that sent the 2023 No. 1 overall pick from Chicago to Carolina so the Panthers could take Alabama QB Bryce Young. He has struggled mightily. That ’24 pick could be No. 1 overall as well if the Panthers keep losing. The Bears likely will be without starting QB Justin Fields for a fourth straight game due to a thumb injury. Undrafted free agent rookie Tyson Bagent, a former NCAA Division II star, would get the call again.
Pick ATS: Chicago (buy down to -3)
Indianapolis Colts “at” New England Patriots
From Frankfurt, Germany with a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff. It’s the last international game of the season. It’s absolutely clear now that Mac Jones is not the long-term answer at QB for the Pats after they struggled against offensively Sunday in a 20-17 home loss to Washington. Yet it doesn’t appear Bill Belichick is ready to make a change, and it’s not as if he has great options. The Colts snapped a three-game skid Sunday with a 27-13 win at Carolina. Cornerback Kenny Moore returned two Bryce Young interceptions for touchdowns. He was the first Colts player ever with two pick-sixes in the same game.
Pick ATS: Indianapolis
Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals
Houston QB CJ Stroud might have clinched NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year on Sunday by setting an NFL record for a rookie with 470 passing yards to go with five touchdowns in a last-second win over Tampa Bay. Stroud was only the sixth player ever with at least 450 passing yards and five touchdown passes with no interceptions in a game. The Bengals got off to a slow start as Joe Burrow dealt with a calf injury but they are firing on all cylinders on a four-game winning streak after a 24-18 win over Buffalo on Sunday. Burrow threw for a season-high 348 yards. Star WR Ja’Marr Chase was banged up a little and in some question this week.
Pick ATS: Cincinnati
New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings
The Saints won their second in a row Sunday, 24-17 over Chicago. Mr. Hybrid Taysom Hill had a TD pass and TD catch to become the second QB in NFL history with at least 25 rushing touchdowns, 10 touchdown passes and 10 touchdown receptions in his career, joining Frank Gifford. New Orleans now solo leads the NFC South. Minnesota gave fifth-round rookie Jaren Hall his first start at QB in Week 9 due to Kirk Cousins’ season-ending injury, only for Hall to get knocked out early against Atlanta. Josh Dobbs, acquired last Tuesday in trade from Arizona, replaced Hall and led the comeback victory, the Vikings’ fourth straight win. Dobbs will start this week. Justin Jefferson is eligible to be activated off IR but likely won’t be.
Pick ATS: New Orleans
Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers
Two really struggling offences and young QBs face off in Green Bay’s Jordan Love and Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett. The Pack did snap a four-game skid Sunday with a 20-3 win over the Rams, and Love was able to avoid turnovers despite being sacked four times. Green Bay scored its first touchdown in the first half of a game since Sept. 17. Pickett perhaps led a season-altering late game-winning drive last Thursday to beat Tennessee, 20-16. However, starting linebacker Cole Holcomb was lost for the season.
Pick ATS: Pittsburgh (buy down to -2.5)
Tennessee Titans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Titans may have found their QB of the future in second-round rookie Will Levis as he started a second straight game last Thursday and nearly led an upset victory in Pittsburgh. Down four in the final seconds, Levis was intercepted in the Pittsburgh end zone. Doubt we see Ryan Tannehill again this season barring an injury to Levis. Tampa Bay finally found its offence on Sunday but lost 39-37 in Houston as Coach Todd Bowles’ seat gets that much hotter in a fourth straight defeat.
Pick ATS: Tampa Bay
San Francisco 49ers at Jacksonville Jaguars
Possible Super Bowl 58 preview, although I might be higher on the Jaguars than others, with both off their bye weeks. Jacksonville has won five straight games and leads the AFC South by two. Barring QB Trevor Lawrence getting hurt, they will win that again. The Niners have lost three straight and are tied for the NFC West lead with Seattle. The bye came at a great time with a few key players like WR Deebo Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams both missing the past few games injured.
Pick ATS: Jacksonville (buy up to +3.5)
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Tough to argue against Baltimore as the AFC’s best team right now at 7-2 and on a four-game winning streak. The Ravens trounced a very good Seattle team on Sunday 37-3. The Seahawks managed only six first downs and were outgained 515-151. Cleveland got QB Deshaun Watson back from injury on Sunday and routed Arizona 27-0. It was the Browns’ first shutout since 2007, and they had seven sacks. Baltimore won 28-3 in Cleveland in Week 4 with Watson out injured.
Pick ATS: Baltimore
Atlanta Falcons at Arizona Cardinals
This will be the season debut of Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray off his torn ACL suffered last season – as long as the former No. 1 overall pick doesn’t have a setback. Rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune started this past Sunday in Cleveland, and it was an utter disaster as the Cards were shutout and managed 48 total yards with three turnovers. Atlanta started Taylor Heinicke at QB for the first time this season and appeared to have Minnesota beaten but blew it at the end. Top WR Drake London was out injured and day-to-day.
Pick ATS: Arizona
Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Chargers
Major rest advantage for the NFC North-leading Lions as they come off their bye week, while the Chargers played Monday night on the East Coast and beat the Jets 27-6 despite just 191 yards of offence. Justin Herbert was 16 of 30 for just 136 yards but became the fastest player in NFL history to 1,500 completions. No. 1 Detroit running back David Montgomery should return after missing the past couple of games injured.
Pick ATS: Detroit
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
Rock bottom hit for the Giants on Sunday. They were about as healthy as they had been in weeks and visiting a Raiders team that just fired its coach, offensive coordinator and general manager and yet New York got slaughtered 30-6 and lost starting QB Daniel Jones, who was just back from injury, for the rest of the season. Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor is on IR, so it will either be journeyman Matt Barkley or rookie Tommy DeVito under centre. The Cowboys have beaten all the teams they should have this season and lost to the good ones as they did Sunday night in Philadelphia. Dallas opened the season at the Giants and won 40-0.
Pick ATS: New York (buy up to +17.5)
Washington Commanders at Seattle Seahawks
Washington, which traded away two terrific pass-rushers last week ahead of the deadline, snapped a two-game skid with a 20-17 upset win at New England on Sunday. The Commanders turned it over twice but wore down the Patriots’ defense by going 9-for-17 on third down. Sam Howell had a second straight 300-yard passing game for the first time in his young career with 325 and a TD. Seattle traveled across country and got blasted 37-3 in Baltimore. The Seahawks were 1-for-12 on third down and totaled 151 yards.
Pick ATS: Seattle
New York Jets at Las Vegas Raiders
Sunday night game and frankly surprising it was not flexed out as these teams are hard to watch offensively. The Jets lost Monday at home to the Chargers, 27-6, to see a three-game winning streak snapped. New York went 3-for-17 on third downs and 0-for-2 in the red zone. Las Vegas is 1-0 under interim head coach Antonio Pierce after smashing the Giants 30-6 on Sunday, the first time the Raiders topped 21 points this season. The players clearly were thrilled that overbearing head coach Josh McDaniels was fired last week.
Pick ATS: Las Vegas
Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills, Monday
Denver comes out of its bye week following back-to-back wins over Green Bay and Kansas City – snapping a 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs — as the defence has really turned its season around after a horrific start to the year. Young cornerback Patrick Surtain II has allowed just one completion more than 20 yards all season. The Bills are 1-4 away from Buffalo this season following 24-18 loss in Cincinnati on Sunday. QB Josh Allen has played like a rookie on the road but an MVP candidate at home.
Pick ATS: Buffalo (buy down to -7)
