NFL Preview: Saints Will Tear 49ers Apart
After a slow start to the season, Al Dannity expects the Saints’ offense to explode in week 2 on Monday Night Football.
Saints will torment 49ers defense
Having won their season opener, it’s now time for the Saints to take their show on the road and prove there is no Super Bowl hangover. Luckily they are going up against a San Francisco defense which has started the year in a generous mood. I’ve already mentioned how the resurgence of Mike Williams is bizarre but it bears mentioning again. The 49ers defense, a supposedly stout unit, was ripped apart by an aging Matt Hasselbeck and a Lions reject.
Now Mike Singletary must prepare for Drew Brees, a quarterback ready to work his magic and rack up insane numbers. This won’t be a pretty home opener for the 49ers. I believe San Francisco can lose this game and still win the NFC West but only because of how bad everyone else in that division is. NFL betting fans should look for Alex Smith to turn the ball over at least twice as the Saints defense plays the kind of opportunistic Football that won New Orleans the Super Bowl in February. The Saints are tremendous value as -6.0 favorites with Sports Interaction. Bet on the Saints to light it up on Monday.
Ravens will raise game against Bengals
While all the talk was of the Jets failings after Monday night, was I the only viewer unsure of Baltimore’s offense? In a game that Baltimore dominated, they flat-out failed to capitalize. Luckily the Jets’ own offensive ineptitude meant the Ravens held on for a 10-9 win but now it’s time for the offense to be unleashed. Ray Rice will need to get more than 2 yards a carry this week while Joe Flacco must improve his accuracy. The Ravens quarterback completed just 20 of 38 passes for 248 yards and an interception on Monday. Cincinnati’s defense is not in the same class as New York’s but the Bengals offense is capable of scoring against anybody.
I like Cincinnati to make a better fight of this week’s game, resulting in a high-scoring but tight affair. Look for T.O. to improve quickly, helping Carson Palmer post some nice stats. For all of Cincy’s offensive might, I still like the Ravens to come out on top here. Bet on Baltimore as -2.5 favorites with Sports Interaction.
