B.C. native Chase Claypool burst onto the NFL scene 2020 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and had himself a very nice rookie season. Things haven’t been as smooth since, and as of Friday he’s already on his third team. The Miami Dolphins have traded for Claypool in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

The spread has shifted slightly for Week 5’s match between the Dolphins and New York Giants. Miami started out as a -11.0 favourite but now sits at -12.5.

Miami Dolphins Acquire WR Chase Claypool from Bears

Claypool’s time in the Windy City was brief but not entirely unmemorable. Unfortunately, his impact was not a positive one. He arrived in Chicago after being traded by the Steelers last November – the end of his Steelers career not being glorious either. He only played 10 matches for the Bears, scoring but a single touchdown during his stint.

As recently as a couple of weeks ago he publicly suggested the team wasn’t utilizing him to the best of his abilities. That was swiftly followed by the club’s decision to make him a healthy scratch two weeks in a row. Lo and behold, Chicago’s offence witnessed a spark in those two games, especially during Thursday night’s 40-20 thumping of the Washington Commanders.

Claypool joins a smoking hot receivers corps in Miami, led by Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. QB Tua Tagovailoa has also played up to expectations to start the season.

Despite the loss in Week 4, the Dolphins still lead the league in total offensive yards per game with an incredible 511, bolstered by 334.3 passing yards per tilt. No one can argue this time that the disgruntled Canuck isn’t on a team that has everything a wide receiver could dream of.
