With no time left on the clock, a 59-yard field goal by Matt Prater gave the 4-5 Detroit Lions a much needed 30-27 home win over Washington, last week.  They’ll look to build on that win when they head to Carolina to face the 3-7 Panthers on Sunday. After a tough 46-23 home loss to Tampa Bay last week, the Panthers are 3-point favourites against Detroit.

NFL Week 11 Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Lions are 1-10 against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 games after giving up at least 250 passing yards in the previous game.  The over is 4-0 in their last four November games.

Carolina is 0-4 ATS in its last four home games against teams with a losing record, while the over is 7-1 in its last eight games after an ATS loss.

The last time these teams met was Week 11 in 2018, which ended as a 20-19 home win for the Lions.  The underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these teams.

Detroit Lions

The Lions will be banking on Matthew Stafford playing like he did against Washington. Stafford threw for 276 yards and three TDs, with no interceptions.  Marvin Jones, D’Andre Swift and Marvin Hall each picked up receiving TDs in the win, while Swift also ran for 81 yards.  For the season Swift’s averaging 4.7 yards per carry and 36.8 yards per game, with four rushing and two receiving TDs.

Although they held Washington QB Alex Smith to no passing TDs, the Lions defence was still lit up for 390 passing yards. They sit in the middle of the pack, giving up 258.9 passing yards per game, this season.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers need to be nearly perfect down the stretch if they want any shot at the playoffs this year.  Teddy Bridgewater is the big question mark. He’s been great at times and terrible at times. He only managed 136 passing yards against the Bucs last week, and threw two TDs and one interception. Bridgewater has 13 TDs and seven interceptions on the year and has thrown an interception in every second game this season.

The Panthers defence is not nearly up to par.  Against the rush, Carolina gives up 4.8 yards per carry (29th) and 124.5 yards per game (20th).  They also give up 255.5 passing yards per game (22nd) and were exploited by Tom Brady last week, allowing him to throw for 341 yards and three TDs.
