Lions vs. Jaguars Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction
Coming off a Week 5 bye, the Lions will be well rested when they head to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars in Week 6. Detroit opened as 3-point favourites on the NFL odds with a total of 54.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
It’s rare to see these teams play each other, as they have only met six times with the series split at 3-3. The last matchup between these teams was a 26-19 Week 11 home win for the Lions in the 2016 season, a game in which quarterback Matthew Stafford didn’t even throw for a touchdown, but he did pick up 278 passing yards.
When playing teams with a losing record, the over is 4-0 in Detroit’s last four games, but they are just 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games against opponents with a losing record. The Lions are also an abysmal 0-4 in the last four games as the favourite.
Jacksonville is 1-4 ATS in their last five Week 6 games and the over is 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog.
Detroit Lions
The Lions are coming into this game rested after a Week 5 bye. Detroit’s defense has been terrible this season and is looking to put a Week 4 loss to the Saints behind them. The Lions blew a two TD lead and New Orleans steamrolled through them, scoring five straight TDs to hand Detroit a 35-29 loss.
Through four games this year, QB Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,017 yards and eight TDs with three picks, while veteran RB Adrian Peterson has 245 rushing yards and a TD. On the defensive side of the ball, DE Romeo Okwara has a team-high two sacks and 10 tackles, while CB Darryl Roberts has one interception and eight tackles.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are coming off a 30-14 Week 5 loss to the Texans, a game which saw quarterback Gardner Minshew throw for 301 yards and two TDs. Despite some bright spots, it was mistakes that cost Jacksonville the game. Fumbles by Minshew and running back James Robinson both led to Houston TDs.
After starting the season with a win over the Colts, the Jaguars have been nothing, but disappointing, losing their last four games. Gardner Minshew’s 10 TDs rank him No. 7 in the league, but his quarterback rating of 64.4 shows he’s making more mistakes than good decisions. The Jags have also given up at least 30 points in their last four games, something Detroit would love to take advantage of on Sunday.
