Lions vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction
The Lions enjoyed a bye last week after rolling to a dominating 42-29 victory over Seattle in Week 4 and they can pull to within one game of the idle Vikings with a victory on Sunday. The Cowboys remain in the hunt for first place in the NFC East after tallying consecutive wins, but struggled at times on both sides of the ball in their recent victories over the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Lions lead the way as 3-point road favourites on the NFL Week 6 odds. The Cowboys trail on the NFL moneyline as +140 underdogs and the total sits at 52.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Cowboys have dominated in head-to-head action with Detroit, posting wins in each of their past six meetings, capped by a 20-19 victory on home turf in Week 17 last season. However, the Lions have seen for of those six defeats come by just a single and have managed to cover the spread in three of their past five visits to Dallas. The total has failed to top 40 in each of their past two dates, and that would be just fine with the Cowboys, who scored just 20 points in each of their two recent wins. However, the well-rest Lions are coming off their highest scoring performance of the season in their victory over the Seahawks two weeks ago and have limited opponents to just 20.5 points per game while going 3-1 ATS this season.
Detroit Lions
After enjoying a bye, the Lions return to action well rested, healthy, and ready to kick off a tough stretch of schedule that features visits to Minnesota Green Bay, and Houston. Quarterback Jared Goff looked to have little need for a week off while completing a record 100% of his passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns two weeks ago and has now compiled a an 87.8% completion percentage while tossing for four scores in the past two games. The backfield duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has also found their groove, combining for 118 yards and three scoring runs versus Seattle. Montgomery has now produced a scoring run in nine of his past 10 game appearances.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys did just enough to eke out a narrow 20-17 win in Pittsburgh last weekend, overcoming a fourth-quarter deficit on the strength of two scoring passes by Dak Prescott. The veteran passer has been one of the few bright spots on a Cowboys squad that has averaged just 21 points per game over the past four weeks and failed to win a home game so far this season. Prescott has connected on two scoring passes in each of the past three games and recorded eight total this season to go along with one scoring run. However, Prescott also tossed a pair of picks for the second time this season in last weekend’s win. The Cowboys defence has also been uninspiring. While the Dallas D did an adequate job of containing a Steelers attack that was already struggling to score points, they provided the Giants with plenty of opportunities to win, including scores on their first three positions, in a narrow 20-15 win two weeks ago, and currently rank among the bottom ten in the NFL in both points per game allowed and rushing yards allowed, and scoring runs allowed.
