Jets vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Preseason Week 3 Odds and Pick

The New York Jets will “visit” the New York Giants on Saturday Night (7:00 PM ET) in the latest battle for New York. While the stakes aren’t that high, let’s take a closer look at that matchup.

New York Jets vs. New York Giants

The general consensus around the league is that the Jets are going to be among the worst teams in the league. So far this preseason, they haven’t done much to change those minds. As for the Giants, they’ve looked equally as sluggish in the preseason, scoring a total of 18 points through two games. It’s the third week of the preseason tune-up for Week 1 so we’ll see if these New York teams can generate some positive momentum.

Point Spread and Betting Odds

The Giants just played Monday night and Odell Beckham Jr. went down with an ankle injury, so this line is currently off the NFL odds board. Check back on the point spread and total for this game later in the week.

We don’t have a lot to work with between these two coaches as they are both young in their careers. Todd Bowles’ Jets are 5-5 through 10 preseason games while Ben McAdoo’s Giants are 2-4. It is worth noting that while McAdoo’s Giants are 1-4 in preseason games in Weeks 1, 2 and 4, they have won their only Week 3 game under him.

New York Jets

We know that the Jets are going to have a long year but the question has been are they maybe 4-12 or 5-11 bad, or are they all-time bad. They’ve stripped their roster bare and it looks like they are planning on tanking. If that is the strategy, so far, so good.

The Jets have scored a total of 13 points in two preseason games. Starting quarterback Josh McCown led the team on a touchdown drive in his opening series in Week 1 and the team has not been back in the end zone since. They compiled a total of 259 yards in Week 2 after racking up a measly 271 in Week 1. If the Giants offer any resistance whatsoever, this team will have a tough time finding the end zone.

New York Giants

The Giants offense has also struggled through two weeks but keep in mind that the starters haven’t played much. Eli Manning has played a total of five series. He should play more in this spot – along with the rest of the starters. They have some decent depth with Geno Smith backing up Manning. Smith has been a starter in the NFL, albeit not a very successful one. The Giants also have a committee at running back with guys like Orleans Darkwa, Shane Vereen and Paul Perkins vying for time. Having guys that have played meaningful snaps going against the Jets backups should help the Giants in this spot.

New York Jets vs New York Giants prediction:

Giants 21-10.
