Jets vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 4 MNF Odds, Prediction
A pair of winless AFC East franchises that likely are in for long seasons meet in the first game of a Monday night doubleheader in Week 4 as the New York Jets visit the Miami Dolphins.
Miami is a 2.5-point favourite on the NFL odds with a total of 44.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Buffalo could really dominate the AFC East for a long time because the Jets, Dolphins and New England Patriots are all in some stage of a reboot or rebuild. At least the Patriots appear to have their quarterback of the future in young Drake Maye. Neither New York nor Miami seems to have its long-term QB on the current roster.
The Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa has shown flashes of greatness in his career but too often struggles against good teams, in cold weather or really outside of Miami at all. The pairing of Tua and coach Mike McDaniel was brilliant early on but looks to have run its course. Neither might be with the team in 2026.
The Jets are under a first-year coach in Aaron Glenn, a former Pro Bowl cornerback for the franchise. Former Bears first-round pick Justin Fields is the quarterback this year but only on a two-year contract and Fields has failed as a starter in Chicago and Pittsburgh, so no one has any illusions he is the long-term guy in New York. And he’s iffy for Week 4.
Long story short: Both these clubs may be picking a quarterback with their 2025 first-round pick. Miami has largely dominated the series in recent years but each team won at home last season scoring exactly 32 points. Aaron Rodgers was the Jets’ QB then. The Dolphins are 10-4 ATS in the past 14 meetings.
New York Jets
The Jets played without starting QB Justin Fields on Sunday as he was in the concussion protocol. Veteran journeyman Tyrod Taylor got the start in Tampa and nearly led an upset, but the Jets lost 29-27 on a walk-off 36-yard field goal. Taylor played pretty well in throwing for 197 yards, two TDs and a pick, but we’d guess Fields is ready for this week with the extra day of rest.
New York, 0-3 for the fourth time in the past seven years, also played without starting WR Josh Reynolds (hamstring) and defensive end Jermaine Johnson (ankle) on Sunday. The Jets were able to rally from a 17-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter and take a 27-26 on Will McDonald’s blocked field goal and 50-yard return for a touchdown with 1:49 remaining. But Tampa Bay marched right down the field when it got the ball.
It was the Jets’ fifth loss since the start of last season when leading in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, two more than any other club. New York is 1-7 SU in its past eight road games.
Miami Dolphins
If the Dolphins haven’t fired coach Mike McDaniel by now, he clearly will be the coach for Week 4 despite the team’s 0-3 mark for the first time since 2019. And Miami played fairly well on Thursday in Week 3 in Buffalo, falling 31-21 – now all three opponents have scored at least 31 points on the Dolphins. That defence has allowed opponents to score on 18 of their 23 possessions this season, not counting kneel-downs.
Tua Tagovailoa had two TD passes against the Bills but a crushing interception. That’s now four picks on the year, tied for second most in the league. Miami had a season high with 130 rushing yards with strong performances from De’Von Achane and rookie Ollie Gordon II. Tight end Darren Waller is expected to make his Dolphins debut on Monday after missing their first three games with a hip injury. The over is 7-0 in Miami’s past seven at home.
