Jaguars vs. Cardinals Point Spread: NFL Week 12 Odds, Prediction
The 6-4 Jaguars are coming off a stunning 35-6 victory over the Chargers, the largest win of Jacksonville’s season. But in their past four games, Jacksonville’s also suffered a 35-7 loss and blew a 19-point fourth quarter lead with an overtime win against the 2-8 Raiders in between. So which Jacksonville team will show up in Arizona? Reason history projects a high-flying offence to show up, as the Jags have averaged 31.3 points per contest this month. It’s bad news for the 3-7 Cardinals too, who have allowed over 40 points in back-to-back losses.
Kickoff at State Farm Stadium goes at 4:05 p.m. EST with Jacksonville a -165 moneyline favourite on the road and -3 on the point spread. The over-under is at 47.5 on this week’s NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The over is a perfect 4-0 in Jacksonville road games this season and 4-1 in Arizona’s five home outings. The dome might be working against the Cardinals, who are allowing 27 points per game at home this season (fifth-worst in the NFL) and own a 1-4 record at home this season. Jacksonville’s scored at least 27 points in three of their four road outings this season. Four of the last six Cardinals–Jaguars games have finished over the total too.
The good news for Arizona backers is the Cardinals are 8-1 ATS in their last nine meetings with an AFC opponent. The Cardinals are also 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games as the underdog, although they’ve been favoured just once since Week 3. Jacksonville is 2-18 ATS in their last games versus the NFC West.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville runs the football more than 28 NFL teams, but last week’s 47 rushes was even above the norm for this offence. The 47 carries resulted in 192 yards and four touchdowns as they dominated the Chargers 35-6 by holding the ball for nearly 38 minutes. Both Bhayshul Tuten and Travis Etienne Jr. finished with over 70 yards on the ground in the win.
Etienne Jr. (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice, as was receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle). Thomas Jr. has missed Jacksonville’s last two games, adding to what’s been a tough sophomore season. The former LSU wideout still leads Jacksonville with 420 receiving yards, but Jacksonville needs more of this group — hence the trade deadline acquisition of Jakobi Meyers who has 105 yards in two games with the Jags.
Arizona Cardinals
Jacoby Brissett’s 47 completions last week set an NFL record. It’s not the proudest record ever though, as it was a product of Arizona trailing by so much so early on to San Francisco. It was also a product of the Cardinals’ franchise-record 17 penalties. Arizona’s 11 first-half penalties were also tied for the most before halftime for any team over the past 20 years. Brissett’s two main beneficiaries of this aerial attack were receiver Michael Wilson, who caught 15 passes for a career-high 185 yards and tight end Trey McBride, who hauled in 115 yards and a touchdown. Marvin Harrison Jr. (appendicitis surgery) missed last week and is ruled out for this Sunday.
Running back Trey Benson (knee) his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday. Benson has been out since Week 4 with a knee injury. Benson would just a crowded Arizona backfield that’s currently led by Bam Knight, as Emari Demercado (ankle) is also out this weekend.
