The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the most impressive offensive teams of the pre-season this year but they face the league’s fiercest defences on Thursday when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final warmup match for both teams before the start of the regular season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jaguars are 2-1 straight up and against the spread in exhibition games this month and have allowed only 16 points combined in their last two contests. Jacksonville held the Falcons to just seven points in Week 4 of the 2017 pre-season with its backups on the field for the entirety of the game.

The Jags first team defence hasn’t allowed a touchdown yet this pre-season but Jalen Ramsey and the rest of the stars of the stopper unit should be watching from the sidelines on Thursday. The Under is 5-2 in Jacksonville’s last seven games overall (regular season, playoffs and pre-season combined).

Tampa Bay is 2-1 SU and ATS this month, and the Over is 7-3 in the club’s last 10 games overall (regular season and exhibition games combined). The Bucs are 5-6 SU and ATS in August matchups under head coach Dirk Koetter.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Starting receiver Marquis Lee is out for the season after picking a serious knee injury against the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend. He was slated to be the Jags’ No. 1 wideout after the departures of Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson. Donte Moncrief, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook will be asked to step up in Lee’s absence, but bettors shouldn’t expect to see any of the three in action on Thursday.

Cody Kessler is expected to start under centre for the Jags against the Bucs. The third-year pro out of USC has completed 32 of his 40 pass attempts for one touchdown and zero interceptions this pre-season. He’ll be followed rookie and sixth round pick Tanner Lee. The former Nebraska signal caller has completed four of his eight passes for just 37 yards this pre-season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston enjoyed a productive pre-season for T-Bay but he won’t play another snap for the Bucs until Week 4. Winston passed for 373 yards in the air while completing 73 percent of his attempts in the pre-season but he won’t see the field again until Sept. 30 because of a three-game, league-issued suspension for player misconduct.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start on Thursday and will play with the first team offence until Winston makes his return. Third string QB Ryan Griffin should see the bulk of action under centre for the Bucs on Thursday night.
