Jaguars vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction

The 10-4 Jaguars are riding a five-game win streak, four of which coming via double-digits. The Broncos continue to get it done despite keeping games close, as nine of their 11 straight wins are single-digit victories. The 11-game win streak is now two shy of a Broncos franchise record.

Jacksonville’s scored at least 35 points in three of their last five outings and put up a season-high 48 last week against New York. And that meant Trevor Lawrence was able to break some of his career highs, most notably his five touchdowns. Jacksonville’s now eighth in the NFL with 26.9 points per game. They get their arguably biggest test yet though, as the Broncos are third in the NFL with 18.6 points against.

Kickoff at Empower Field at Mile High gets started at 4:05 p.m. EST with Denver a -160 moneyline favourite and -3 on the point spread, with the over-under at 45.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Denver is a prefect 7-0 on home field this season, and have won 12-straight home games dating back to last season. It’s Denver’s longest streak since 2012-2013, back when a guy named Peyton Manning was under centre. And this current Broncos offence is starting to roll too as they’ve scored at least 24 points in all of their three games since the Week 12 bye week.

Seven of the last eight Jaguars–Broncos contests played in Denver have finished over the total. The over is 6-1 overall in Jacksonville’s last seven road outings, with the Jaguars reaching at least 25 points in all but one of their six road games this season. The Jags have also covered in five straight games, but are 1-4 outright in their last five meetings with the Broncos.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a legitimate Super Bowl contender if they get the kind of quarterback play they got from Trevor Lawrence last week. In the 48-20 win over New York, Lawrence became the first player in NFL history with at least 300 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, five touchdown passes and one touchdown run in a game. Lawrence totalled 381 yards, six touchdowns, and no turnovers in what was truly one of the best games by a QB this year.

Running back Travis Etienne Jr. is 51 rushing yards shy of his third 1,000-yard season, and the backfield appears to be completely his now with Bhayshul Tuten (finger) reportedly set to miss a few weeks after undergoing surgery.

Also on the injury front, defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (illness) missed practice Wednesday but should be good to go Sunday. Otherwise, Jacksonville is quite healthy headed into Week 16.

Denver Broncos

Bo Nix is starting to heat up, which is scary considering how strong the rest of this Broncos roster is. Nix has 300 passing yards in two of his last three outings, and is coming off a four-touchdown outing last week in the 34-26 win over Green Bay. Courtland Sutton was again the main beneficiary of Nix’s big day, with the veteran receiver hauling in a team-high seven catches for 113 yards and a score last week. Sutton is 114 receiving yards shy of his third 1,000-yard campaign.

Denver continues to control their destiny to first in the AFC and are starting to prove they can win in all kinds of ways. The Broncos hadn’t allowed more than 26 points since Week 7, but Nix and the offence stepped up to overcome the defensive slide. And when crunch time came, the Broncos defence stepped up with an interception and a pair of forced turnovers on downs to end the game. Sunday’s just the latest test for Denver to prove they’re legit.
