Giants vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction
Things are not getting any better for the New York Giants. Missing their main threat of attack Saquon Barkley and a sensible offensive line, the G Men were flattened 24-3 at home last Monday night by the Seattle Seahawks. Speaking of tough days in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins were tossed off cloud nine by the Buffalo Bills, who pounded them 48-20.
All things considered, the NFL odds still have a lot of chalk down for the Dolphins, who currently sit as. -11.0 favourites.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
If there is an inkling of good vibes New York supporters can cling to, it’s that the Giants have a good history versus the Dolphins, having won four of the last five meetings. That said, it was Miami who captured the most recent date in 2021.
As bad as things are in the Giants’ camp, consider betters who opted to put their faith in them against spreads. New York has failed at every opportunity so far this season, posting an unenviable 0-4 record ATS. That includes a 10.5 underdog status versus the 49ers (they lost by more) and a -4.5 versus the Cardinals (they didn’t win by enough).
Conversely, Miami has done itself proud ATS this season through four weeks, going 3-1. As one can imagine, the lone blip is the Week 4 debacle in Buffalo. This will be their first test as a significant favourite. Minus 11 is a heck of a spread.
New York Giants
Giants head coach Brian Daboll has his work cut out for him. Even if his star running back does return in time for this match, is the offensive line in good enough shape to create the necessary holes?
The display on Monday night versus the Seahawks was nothing to be proud of. Ironically, there were some key offensive statistical categories for which New York surpassed Seattle, such as first downs (17-13) and third down efficiency (37.5 per cent to 25 per cent). Critical errors and an absence of protection for QB Daniel Jones did the team in. Not that Jones played especially well. The look on Daboll’s face when Jones threw a third quarter pick six that went 97 yards the other way spoke volumes. Not many QBs suffer double-digit sacks, but Jones went down 11 times on Monday (obviously not all were exclusively his fault).
It was one of those nights when, had Seattle been more ruthless with the ball, the final score could have been much worse than 24-3. New York’s appalling tackling practically begged Seattle to rack up more points.
OT Andrew Thomas, G Marcus Mckethan, and RB Saquon Barkley are questionable.
Miami Dolphins
How quickly things change from week to week in the National Football League. One moment a club’s fanbase is hooting and hollering about how magnificent their side is, and the next are wondering what went wrong.
After dismantling the Broncos 70-20 in Week 4, the Miami Dolphins were themselves taught a lesson by the Buffalo Bills, 48-20. The game was close for about a quarter, but it soon became apparent that Bills gunslinger Josh Allen had a message to send to Dolphins signal caller Tua Tagovailoa: Hold on just a second. Actually, it’s more logical to suggest that the message was intended for Miami’s defence, which couldn’t do a thing against Allen, Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, or the running back committee that scampered for over 100 yards.
As for positives, rookie RB De’Von Achane had another strong outing, hitting 101 yards on only eight carries. Miami didn’t even gain much fewer yards than Buffalo (393 to 414), but the latter was mercilessly efficient, whereas the Dolphins stalled when it mattered most.
WR Braxton Berrios is questionable and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. is on IR.
