Giants vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 1 Odds
The Cowboys’ hopes of defending the division title will take a dent if they fail to take down Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants on Sunday.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
A two-time NFL rushing champion returns to the fold for the Cowboys but the spread holds steady at Dallas -7. Oddsmakers most likely assumed Elliott would feature when they first posted the Giants as touchdown underdogs. About 56 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are backing the home favourites in this contest.
The total at 46.5 and has dropped a point and a half to an even 45. More than 60 percent of SIA customers like Over 45 for the game’s total combined final score.
The G-Men are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games versus the Cowboys, but they are 7-0 ATS in their last seven road games. Dallas is 1-4 against the number in its last five Week 1 matches. The Over is 4-0 in the Boys’ last four games against divisional foes.
Dallas, at +130, is not the favourite to win the NFC East. That honour belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles. Sports Interaction lists the Eagles as -111 chalk to take the division while the Giants are the biggest longshots to win the NFC East at +1100.
New York Giants
Big Blue lost Odell Beckham Jr. – one of the premier receivers in the game – and replaced him with Golden Tate. Beckham Jr. to Tate is a big drop in talent, but the situation is made worse by Tate’s four-game suspension for PED use.
Saquon Barkley should be the workhorse for the Giants offence. The running back was a revelation in his first year out of Penn State.
Eli Manning begins the season as the starting quarterback, but he could be working with a shorter leash in 2019. The 38-year-old is being backed up rookie Daniel Jones who showed some flashes in the preseason.
Dallas Cowboys
Elliott is back but how much will he play? The fourth year RB sat out all training camp and didn’t make his first appearance at practice until Wednesday this week.
Dallas beat reporters are suggesting Elliott will see 20 to 25 snaps on Sunday against the Giants. Tony Pollard, the rookie out of Memphis, should see the remaining of action in the backfield.
