Giants vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction
The two rookies served notice that they were for real in last week’s biggest upset, a 34-17 thumping of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Dart combined for 253 yards and two touchdowns passing and rushing, while Skattebo ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns in his best game to date as a professional.
They’ll face a suffocating Broncos defense that embarrassed the New York Jets in London last week. Denver’s D recorded nine sacks and allowed just 82 total yards to New York in an ugly, 13-11 victory.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Giants are coming off a Thursday night performance, and the extra rest historically has carried positive weight. The team is 14-3 against the spread coming off Thursday night contests.
On the NFL odds, Skattebo is currently listed at -115 to run for over 54.5 yards. Denver’s run D is one of the best in the league, but it still allows 89 yards per game. Skattebo has topped this number four times in a row.
New York Giants
Are the Giants turning the corner? One of the best recipes to end a stagnant stretch of performances is to introduce high-energy, impact rookies, and that is what’s happened with the Giants and Dart. He’s not perfect by any means, as evidenced by his two-interception performance in a 26-14 defeat at the New Orleans Saints two weeks ago.
However, with two wins in three starts, a back who absorbs contact at the rate of Skattebo in his backfield, and an improving defence – led by Brian Burns and his seven sacks – on the other side, New York fans can at least be hopeful after the miserable start with Russell Wilson under center.
Denver Broncos
This contest has a 40.5-point total for two reasons. The Broncos’ defence, which is second in the league in both yards (254.2) and points (15.8) allowed per game, swarms to the ball and the quarterback. The team sacked Justin Fields nine times last week, holding him to -10 net passing yards. Nik Bonitto leads the NFL with eight sacks, while the Broncos, with 30 sacks as a team, are 10 ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers in that stat.
On the other side of the ball, Bo Nix is stumbling in his second season under center. He’s doing enough to win with 233.5 yards combined rushing and passing per game, and he has only been sacked nine times, but the Broncos need more from their signal caller if they are to stay in the mix in the AFC West.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Giants vs. Broncos?
This contest screams for a Giants cover as a seven-point dog. However, New York isn’t the only team that has defeated the Eagles recently, as Denver recorded its win at Philly four days earlier.
If Dart can stay upright and Skattebo continues to be productive in the red zone, the Giants should continue to improve. However, this game is in Denver, where the Broncos have won seven straight dating to last season, and have only allowed 15 points in two contests this year.
Nix and company do just enough on offence to complete another stellar defensive effort in a 20-10 Denver victory.
