Eagles vs. Commanders Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction
The Eagles head to Landover, MD, to face the Commanders on Saturday at 5 pm ET. Philadelphia is on the verge of becoming the first NFC East team in the past 21 years to win the division in back-to-back seasons. The Eagles put themselves in this position thanks to a 31-0 pasting of the Las Vegas Raiders last week.
The Washington Commanders ended an eight-game losing streak with a 29-21 triumph over the New York Giants and may be in a good headspace now that the Will-he-Won’t-he regarding Jayden Daniels’ playing status has been resolved for the rest of the season.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Eagles, who have won three of four in Washington, are 9-4 against the spread on the road, dating back to last season. Washington is 2-7 against the spread in its last nine games.
Philadelphia has played to the Under in each of its past six contests. However, the Commanders are 4-1-1 to the Over at home this season, and these teams have played to the Over in five of their last six meetings.
Saquon Barkley is -130 to rush more than 18.5 times and -110 to go for more than 78.5 yards. The Commanders are 28th against the run, allowing 136.3 yards on the ground per game.
Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts rebounded from possibly his worst professional performance. He accounted for five turnovers in a 22-19 overtime loss at the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14, but threw for 175 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions against the Raiders, who are lucky the NFL doesn’t have promotion-relegation rules.
Barkley, who had 122 yards against the Chargers, ground out 78 against Las Vegas. He’s only averaging 3.9 yards per carry, but he’s also on the verge of his fifth career 1,000-yard season. It should come against the Commanders, whom he annihilated last season. In three games, including a dominating NFC Championship Game performance, Barkley averaged 5.9 yards per carry and 138 yards per game while totalling seven rushing touchdowns.
Washington Commanders
It wasn’t pretty. Marcus Mariota went 10 for 19 for 211 yards and a touchdown. However, the most important stat was DNP. As in, Daniels did not play. The reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year has been in and out of the lineup with injuries this season, including a dislocated elbow that should have ended his campaign, especially with the team well out of playoff position.
The Commanders stupidly played him again, risking long-term damage for a franchise that desperately needs an extended run of sideline and upper management competence. There’s nothing fancy about Mariota, but his job is to keep the offence respectable until Daniels can get back under centre in 2026.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Eagles vs. Commanders?
Both teams played JV squads last week, so don’t get overly excited. The Eagles’ pedigree should prevail and secure the franchise’s fifth straight playoff berth.
It shouldn’t be a total blowout, but the Eagles should easily prevail, 27-13.
