NFL schedule makers hoped a Week 17 matchup between the Cowboys and the Eagles would settle the NFC East division, but the two sides prep this week for a glorified preseason game when the ‘Boys visit the City of Brotherly Love.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Cowboys opened as 2.5-point road favourites on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board. The total opened at 43 but dropped to 41 by midweek.

Dallas lost outright 21-12 as a 4.5-point home favorite to the Seattle Seahawks last weekend. The setback eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs and brought their season record to 8-7 straight up and 7-7-1 against the spread.

The Cowboys failed to score a touchdown and played under the total for the seventh time in their last eight games.

Philadelphia sealed the top seed in the NFC playoffs with its 19-10 win over the Oakland Raiders but failed to cover as 10-point chalk. The Eagles head into their season finale at 13-2 SU and 10-5 ATS.

The Eagles are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four games against the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas failed to find the end zone against the Seahawks making it four times this season the squad didn’t register an offensive touchdown in a game. The Cowboys rank 14th in total offence and 12th in scoring a year removed from finishing fifth in both stat categories.

There’s already talk about which Dallas starters will not see the field against Philadelphia. Bettors should expect Tyron Smith to be among those sitting out. The All-Pro left tackle has battled a series of injuries all season and played just three snaps against the Seahawks before heading to the sidelines for good.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philly owns home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs but is tied for the fourth shortest odds to win the Super Bowl at +900 on the Sports Interaction NFL futures board. The Eagles would likely be the second favourite behind the New England Patriots if Carson Wentz weren’t out for the year.

Eagles head coach Doug Peterson suggested Foles would see some action against the Cowboys but probably not play the entire game.
