A Cowboys victory will give Dallas the outright NFC East and an automatic playoff berth, while the Eagles will all but assure themselves the division title with a home victory. Regardless of the outcome, the NFC East is assured to have a nine-game division winner for just the third time since the 1970 merger.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Cowboys are surprising road favourites for their rematch with the Eagles; Dallas trounced Philadelphia 37-10 at AT&T Stadium earlier in the season, earning the pivotal tiebreaker for the division title. And divisional games have brought out the best in Dallas in recent years, with the Cowboys having gone 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games vs. NFC East foes. Philadelphia has gone just 4-12 ATS in its previous 16 games as a home underdog.
From a totals perspective, Over bettors have made a mint off the Cowboys in the second half of the season. Dallas is a sizzling 5-2 O/U in its previous seven games, and has gone 7-1 to the Over in its past eight games against divisional opponents. That doesn’t jibe at all with the Eagles’ recent trends: they enter Week 16 on a five-game Under streak at Citizens Bank Park, and have gone 7-2 to the Under in their last nine games following a victory.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys might have righted the ship just in time, trouncing the visiting Los Angeles Rams 44-21 last time out to end a three-game losing skid during which they averaged just 16 points per game. Ezekiel Elliott racked up 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in the victory and will look to repeat the success he had against the Eagles back in that Week 7 rout, when he rumbled for 111 yards and a touchdown while adding six catches for 36 yards.
Philadelphia Eagles
How can the Eagles gain their revenge on the Cowboys and put themselves in the drivers’ seat for the division crown? Taking better care of the football needs to be a top priority, after the Eagles turned it over four times in Dallas. Philadelphia comes in with the eighth-worst turnover margin in the league at -6, and has committed 19 turnovers in its seven losses compared with just four turnovers in its seven victories.
