Colts vs. Patriots Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

It’ll be the first time Anthony Richardson and Drake Maye face off against one another but the stakes aren’t as high as when Peyton Manning and Tom Brady used to duke it out. Richardson’s Colts are now 5-7 and hanging on for any chance at the post-season, while Maye’s Patriots are 3-9 and out of the picture after back-to-back losses.

Ironically, it’s the Patriots who should be feeling better about their top-drafted QB. Maye has performed quite well considering the tools around him and has completed 65 per cent of his passes along with three multi-touchdown-passing games in his six complete starts. Richardson finished 11 of 28 last week and is now at an NFL-worst 47.1 completion percentage this season.

Kickoff at Gillette Stadium Sunday begins at 1 p.m. with the Colts coming in as a -150 road moneyline favourite and the over-under at 42.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

New England has typically gotten the better of Indianapolis, with and without Tom Brady. More recently, the Patriots are 9-2 in their last 11 meetings with the Colts and Indy is 3-6 ATS in their last nine games against New England. In 2024, the Colts overall have been an ATS darling by going 8-4 ATS on the season and 4-1 ATS in their last five road outings.

Four of New England’s five home games this season have gone over the total and they’ve managed to win in just one of those five. Drake Maye’s last home outing was his best game of the season though, completing 29 of 39 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns. The same goes for Anthony Richardson though, who went 20 of 30 for 272 yards and three touchdowns two weeks ago on the road at New York.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis is preparing to play without one of their top offensive weapons on Sunday as receiver Josh Downs is considered week-to-week with a shoulder injury. Downs leads the Colts with 59.4 receiving yards per game this season. Receiving leader Alec Pierce also missed practice on Wednesday with a foot injury but his status for New England is uncertain. Center Tanor Bortolini (concussion) and Bernhard Raimann (knee) also appeared on the injury report.

But, none of this will matter on Sunday if Anthony Richardson continues his inconsistency woes. Last week the Colts defence held its own against the NFL’s top offence, but Indianapolis mustered up six points. One solution: give Jonathan Taylor more than 11 carries like last week. Taylor’s yet to find the end zone since October 27, and is due for a big game.

New England Patriots

Last week Jerod Mayo said he can’t take responsibility for his players’ performance, which unsurprisingly caught him some backlash. It’s safe to assume Mayo’s being extra positive this week in preparing his players for gameday — since it’s maybe the most he can do. The issue all season in New England has still been the lack of talent around Drake Maye. Remember, it took the Patriots six weeks to even feel comfortable to start their prized QB alongside this roster.

Tight end Hunter Henry has developed a consistent connection with the rookie QB, as the former’s hauled in at least five catches in three of New England’s last four outings. Henry’s 535 receiving yards leads the Patriots. Receiver DeMario Douglas is another name to key on. With Maye, Douglas has 20 catches in New England’s last four games.
