As the regular season winds down, Week 14 has multiple crucial games for the playoff picture. This includes a matchup in the AFC South between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As it stands, the Colts and Jaguars are tied for the division lead at 8-4, and this will be their first meeting this season. Over the last two seasons, Jacksonville has won three of four.
Jacksonville comes into this game in better form, having won three straight games, while Indianapolis has dropped two consecutive contests.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
When looking at the betting odds, it is clear that this game is essentially a pick ‘em. The Colts are the short road favourites of -1.5 on the NFL odds, while the Jaguars are home dogs of +1.5.
Indianapolis actually opened as a -2.5-point favourite at the start of the week, suggesting heavy money has come in on Jacksonville over the last few days. This is likely due to the recent form of both teams.
On top of that, cornerback Sauce Gardner is listed as doubtful for the Colts, which could be another reason why the spread has moved.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts started the season red-hot, winning eight of their first 10 games. However, since their trip to Berlin, where they beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, the Colts have lost two games in a row.
Indianapolis still averages 29.8 points per game this season, but during their current two-game losing streak, they’ve put up just 18.0 points per game. Further, running back Jonathan Taylor is averaging 71.5 rushing yards and has not scored a touchdown after his red-hot start to the year.
As mentioned previously, Sauce Gardner is doubtful for this game, which is likely going to hurt Indianapolis’s ability to play sufficient defence.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars, on the other hand, have won their last three games in a row and are now tied atop the AFC South with the Colts. A win for Jacksonville would put them in the driver’s seat of the division, with just four games remaining in the regular season.
Much like the Colts, Jacksonville is dealing with its fair share of injuries as well, including three offensive and two defensive linemen. The good news is that all of these players are questionable for this game against Indianapolis, meaning there is a good chance that they will not be shorthanded.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Colts vs. Jaguars?
For this game, I am going to target the Jaguars to win. As mentioned, Jacksonville is in blistering form; during their three-game winning streak, they’re averaging 29.0 points, while allowing 11.0 points per game.
The Jaguars also have the advantage with this game being at home, where they are 4-2 this season. As for the Colts, they have struggled on the road and are just 2-3.
With the Colts in a mid-season slump, my best bet will be for the Jaguars to win (+110).
