The Indianapolis Colts still have a very slim shot at the playoffs as they head to New York to face the Giants on Sunday.

The Colts pulled out a much-needed 38-30 home win over Tennessee last week, but at 7-8 on the year, they will need to win their final two regular season games to even have a shot of overtaking the Chargers or Broncos for a wild-card spot.

It’s a much bleaker story for the Giants. New York lost a franchise-record 10th straight game, 34-7, in Atlanta last week and they have the worst record in the NFL at 2-13.

Indianapolis is a 7.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 40.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams rarely face off, having last met January 1, 2023. The Giants won that game 38-10, but there’s been a massive roster overhaul for both teams in the following two years.

Looking ahead to this season, the Colts have the perfect opponent. New York is not only easily the worst team in the NFL, they’re also the only team that has yet to win at home (0-8). Indy may only be 3-5 on the road, but it would be shocking if they lost a must-win game against a team like the Giants.

In fact, New York can’t even claim a little bit of pride by at least covering spreads and paying bettors. The Giants are an abysmal 3-11-1 against the spread in 2024, the second-worst mark in the NFL, and they have covered just once on their 10-game losing streak. On the other hand, the Colts are a respectable 9-6-0 ATS, covering in half of their eight road games.

Indianapolis Colts

I’m all over running back Jonathan Taylor in this game. Taylor is coming off an absolutely ridiculous stat line, rushing for a season-high 218 yards and three TDs against Tennessee, the sixth-time he’s hit the century mark for rushing yards in a single game this season.

The Giants have the second-worst rushing defence in the NFL and with Indy quarterback Anthony Richardson nursing back and foot injuries, Taylor will get a heavy workload on Sunday.

New York Giants

There’s still a bit of a question when it comes to a starting quarterback for New York this week, but it looks like Drew Lock will be good to go. Lock started last week in Atlanta, throwing for 210 yards, one TD and two pick-6s, but head coach Bria Daboll said the 28-year-old was dealing with a shoulder injury in his postgame comments.

Lock will be tasked with rejuvenating a Giants teams that has the worst scoring offence in the NFL, averaging just 14.3 points per game. In three starts, Lock has thrown for only one TD with four interceptions.
