The Chiefs currently enjoy a three-game straight up win streak after eking out a narrow 23-20 win over the New York Jets. But apart from their crushing 41-10 victory over the hapless Chicago Bears in Week 3, this team has averaged just 20 points per game in the early going of this season. The Vikings return home in the wake of their first win of the season, a 21-13 victory in Carolina last weekend. Overall, the Vikings have lost five of their past seven contests, but have seen their three straight defeats this season come by a combined margin of just 13 points.

The Chiefs have faded to 4-point road favourites since opening at -6. The total has held steady since opening at 52.5 on the NFL Week 5 odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup at US Bank Stadium marks the first meeting between these teams since 2019, and the Chiefs’ first visit to Minnesota in eight years. The Chiefs enjoy a historical advantage when facing the Vikings, posting SU wins in seven of 10 dates since 1981. However, they have struggled to score while falling to defeat in three of their past four trips to the Twin Cities. With the total topping 40 just once, the UNDER has gone 3-1 over their past four clashes.

Kansas City Chiefs

After storming to an early 17-0 lead in last week’s date with the Jets, it looked like the Chiefs were on their way to second straight lopsided victory. However, as the contest woes on, the Chiefs struggled to maintain momentum against a resurgent Jets defence that limited them to just 14 total yards over their three subsequent possessions, and forced KC to settle for a field goal on what proved to be the game-inning drive. A nagging ankle injury has helped matters for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was limited to just 203 yards and one TD pass while tossing a pair of picks for the first time in 11 games. Mahomes has avoided this week’s injury report, but will once again be tested by a Vikings defence that sacked Carolina rookie pivot Bryce Young five times last weekend, and limited the Panthers to just 232 total yards on the day. Rusher Isiah Pacheco is coming off a career-high 115-yard performance and has recorded scoring careers in each of the past two games.

Minnesota Vikings

While the Vikings enter the weekend with a 1-3 SU record and have covered the spread just twice in 10 games, they have consistently kept things close, with each of their past four losses coming in games settled by a single score. While the defence was effective at containing Bryce Young last weekend, they struggled to limit Justin Herbert, who exposed them with four touchdown passes in a 28-24 loss two weeks ago. With just 20.5 points per game in their two home dates, Kirk Cousins must find a way to spark this offence after a subpar effort in Carolina that produced just 139 yards, two scores, and two picks. Considering the Chiefs pass defence has surrendered more than 200 passing yards just twice in their past eight games, and just nine total scoring tosses, the backfield duo of Alexander Mattison and Cam Akers may enjoy a lot of touches on Sunday. Akers ran for just 40 yards in his Minnesota debut last weekend, and Mattison has compiled 250 yards in four outings. However, the Vikings’ 28th-rank ground game has produced 83.5 yards per game and has yet to score so far this season.
