Chiefs vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL 2025 Super Bowl 59 Odds, Prediction

We have our Super Bowl 59 opponents set as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs prepare to meet at the Caesars Super Dome in New Orleans on Feb. 9. Kansas City is looking to make history as the first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowl, while the Eagles are looking to avenge their loss against KC at Super Bowl 57.

The Chiefs are 1.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total pegged at 49.5. Make sure to keep an eye on the betting odds as the line will likely shift over the next two weeks.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Of course the most notable recent history between these teams came two years ago at Super Bowl 57, which Kansas City won 38-35. These teams have actually met since then, however. The Eagles got revenge against KC in Week 11 last year, winning 21-17 at Arrowhead, snapping a four-game losing streak in head-to-head action.

The total of 49.5 is fairly large for a Super Bowl, so oddsmakers are clearly looking at the last time these teams met in the Big Game. The 73 combined points at Super Bowl 57 was the third-highest scoring Super Bowl in NFL history and the 35 points Philadelphia scored was the highest point total ever for a losing team.

When it comes to the total, we’re also talking about an Eagles team that just put up a monster 55-point performance in the NFC Championship Game, while the Chiefs combined with Buffalo for 61 points in the AFC Championship.

Let’s look at the spread. There’s no question Philadelphia has been a better cover option this year. The Eagles are a healthy 13-7 against the spread (65 per cent cover rate), including 4-1 ATS in their last five games. The Chiefs, on the other hand, haven’t been a profitable cover option, going 9-10 ATS for a cover rate of just 47.4 per cent.

The more this number gets bet towards Kansas City, the better. If the Chiefs are favoured by around a field goal, I’m flying with the Birds to cover (and possibly win outright) all day long.

Kansas City Chiefs

It seemed inevitable that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs would face off with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game this year. And when it mattered most, Mahomes once again broke the hearts of Bills’ fans, throwing for 245 yards and a touchdown, while adding another 45 rushing yards and two TDs on the ground. It was a classic game from Mahomes, who consistently rises to a greater level in the playoffs, winning three Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVPS in just eight years.

The Chiefs’ defence also deserves some love. Kansas City used the blitz to contain Josh Allen in the AFC Championship and did it particularly well in the fourth quarter when Buffalo looked like they would have a good chance to win in regulation. The main assignment on Feb. 9 will be slowing down Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley. KC had a top-10 rushing defence during the regular season, so that could be the edge they need.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles received another monster performance from Saquon Barkley in the NFC Championship Game, with the star running back torching Washington for 118 rushing yards and three TDs. Barkley didn’t exactly ease into the game as he ran for a 60-yard touchdown on Philly’s first play of the game. The Eagles’ run-game overall was elite against the Commanders, finishing the day with seven rushing TDs.

Jalen Hurts also ran for three TDs while passing for 246 yards and a touchdown. As good as Barkley has been all year, Hurts’ performance in the Super Bowl is even more crucial. His ability to navigate the blitzes Kansas City will throw at him will likely make or break the game. Hurts was reportedly dealing with a knee injury heading into the NFC Championship, but it didn’t seem to affect him and with an extra week to rest I’m fully confident it won’t be an issue by the Super Bowl. With Hurts on top of his game and Barkley inserted as the piece that was missing from Super Bowl 57, I give the edge to Philadelphia.
