Buccaneers vs. Raiders Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction
The NFL’s Week 7 will see a rare matchup on Sunday when the 4-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Las Vegas for their first meeting with the 3-2 Raiders in four years.
After some COVID-19 scares for the Raiders, it looks like this game is set to go. The Buccaneers are 4-point favourites on the NFL odds with an opening total of 52.
NFL Week 7 Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Being in different conferences these teams rarely play each other, with their last meeting ending in a 30-24 Buccaneers win in Tampa Bay four years ago. There is, however, familiarity here. Five of the current coaches on the Raiders staff are actually former Buccaneers coaches, including Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, who led the Bucs to their only championship in franchise history with a win in Super Bowl XXXVII.
The Buccaneers enter this game with a 1-5-1 record against the spread in their last seven games against teams with a winning record. The over is 5-1 in Tampa Bay’s last six Week 7 games.
In the Raiders last five games overall, the over is 4-0-1, while they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games on grass.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There is no denying the 38-10 rout over the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers, last week, shows how dangerous the Buccaneers are this year. Quarterback Tom Brady threw two TDs in the showdown with Aaron Rodgers, bringing Brady’s totals on the year to 14 TDs and 1,541 passing yards. Tight end Rob Gronkowski finally broke through with 78 yards and a TD, while running back Ronald Jones II had two TDs on 113 rushing yards.
Now leading the NFC South, Tampa Bay is proving to be a well-rounded team, as they rank in the top 10 in league offense and defense. Tom Brady is coming off of his first game as a Buccaneer without an interception and Gronkowski seems like he is healthy and ready to go. With possibly the most offensive weapons of his career, Brady could be the X-factor on Sunday.
Las Vegas Raiders
Before last week’s bye, the Raiders had a statement win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5. Dumping the defending Super Bowl champs 40-32, quarterback Derek Carr threw for 347 yards and three TDs in the win, while running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 77 yards and two TDs and defensive end Maxx Crosby recorded a sack for the third straight game.
The Raiders offense has led the way through their first five games this season. The offense is averaging 30.2 points per game, largely due to a career year by Carr who has the best completion percentage (73.1), yards per game (288.4) and passer rating (115.9) of his career. The only area of concern is the defense, which is allowing 30.4 points per game, meaning the Raiders join the Cleveland Browns as the only teams with winning records and negative point differentials on the season.
