Browns vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction

Cleveland is a 1-point favourite on the NFL odds with a total of 49.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Browns starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett is 16-24 in his NFL career as a starter, but he’s only in there for Cleveland until Deshaun Watson’s 11-game suspension ends. Former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota of the Falcons is 30-34 in his NFL starting career and probably is only in there until later this year when the Falcons are well below .500 and decide to give third-round rookie Desmond Ridder a look. Atlanta also was interested in trading for Watson.

It’s the first meeting between these clubs since 2018 when the Browns were 28-16 home winners. Nick Chubb rushed for 176 yards and a 92-yard touchdown. Baker Mayfield was the Cleveland QB that day and had three TD passes. Matt Ryan was with the Falcons still and threw for 330 yards and two TDs.

The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the past five meetings.

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland may not have one of the NFL’s top pass-rushers as Pro Bowl end Myles Garrett was in a single-car accident leaving the team’s practice facility on Monday, and the car he and a female passenger were in flipped over a few times. He’s not seriously hurt and is already out of the hospital but no word on his status for Sunday. Fellow pass-rushing end Jadeveon Clowney missed Cleveland’s 29-17 home win over Pittsburgh in Week 3 and his status is TBA. Linebackers Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Anthony Walker were hurt vs. the Steelers. Walker is done for the year. Jacoby Brissett played well vs. Pittsburgh in completing 67.7 percent of his passes for two scores. The Browns are 1-5 ATS in their past six after a win.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta lost its first two games of the season close but pulled out a 27-23 win in Seattle in Week 3. Cordarrelle Patterson, a converted receiver, rushed for a career-high 141 yards and one touchdown. He looks different as a tailback because he’s 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. Marcus Mariota threw for a score to wideout Drake London, among the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year favourites, and rushed for one. All 13 of Mariota’s completions went for a first down and the Falcons punted only once. Rather surprisingly, Atlanta has been one of the NFL’s better offensive teams in averaging 26.7 ppg. The defence is allowing 27.0 ppg, however. The Falcons are 1-5 ATS in their past six at home. If Myles Garrett plays, I’d probably flip the below score.
