Browns vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 3 Odds, Prediction
The Browns are 2-0, most recently winning at home against the Giants 17-13. The Falcons are 0-2 in the preseason, but starting quarterback Matt Ryan has yet to see a snap and may not until the regular season begins.
Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Sunday.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
With Cleveland’s starters potentially seeing some reps Sunday, the Browns are currently sitting as 5.5-point favourites to win on the NFL preseason odds, with the over-under listed at 36. The Browns have enjoyed some recent success over the Falcons too, winning and covering in four of their last five clashes.
Atlanta’s only covered in one of their last 16 preseason games in August, which may indicate the Browns are in for an easier win. Sixteen of Cleveland’s last 20 games in August have gone under the total too, so look for the preseason under trend to keep rolling between the Browns and Falcons, who end off the 2021 preseason.
Cleveland Browns
An unofficial depth chart released by the Browns has quarterback Baker Mayfield, running back Nick Chubb, and defensive linemen Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney, all in the starting lineup. Head coach Kevin Stefansky has yet to inform his starters if they’ll be playing Sunday, according to left guard Joel Bitonio, but the depth chart is an encouraging sign they’ll at least see a series or two.
Mayfield has yet to play this preseason and it’s instead been 2018 fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta taking most reps at quarterback. Lauletta’s been in a battle with veteran pivot Case Keenum for the Browns’ backup QB spot. Keenum threw for 74 yards, a touchdown and interception in Week 2 while Lauletta had 152 yards.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have yet to trot out the likes of Ryan, pass-catchers Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts, and cornerback A.J. Terrell this preseason. Instead, A.J. McCarron has started both games for Atlanta and has just 79 passing yards on 8-of-18 passing attempts in two games.
The Falcons have scored two touchdowns in their two preseason losses, both coming on the ground from undrafted rookie Caleb Huntley and 2017 third-round pick D’Onta Foreman. Huntley led all Falcons running backs with six carries for 57 yards in Week 2. Free agent defensive end Jonathan Bullard has a sack in each of Atlanta’s preseason games.
