Broncos vs. Chiefs Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
The 8-0 Chiefs escaped another close call last week in a 30-24 overtime victory in which Patrick Mahomes drove his offence down into the end zone on the extra frame’s only drive.
And if this eight-game streak hasn’t already locked up the AFC West as Kansas City’s for the ninth straight season, a victory over the 5-4 Broncos would all but guarantee the Chiefs’ throne. Denver’s coming off a humbling 41-10 defeat to Baltimore that seemingly revealed the Broncos can’t hang with the AFC’s best, something that can get confirmed at Arrowhead this weekend.
Kickoff at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium gets started at 1 p.m. EST with the Chiefs favoured by 8.5 points on the spread and the over-under at 41.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Part of the reason Kansas City’s claimed eight straight division titles is their dominance within the division. That starts with Denver, who the Chiefs have won eight straight against when playing at home. Sixteen of these teams last 17 meetings have gone in Kansas City’s favour too. Where things get even is the spread: the Broncos and Chiefs are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 clashes.
Both Denver and Kansas City rank in the top four in points allowed too, which clearly has dropped this game’s total down to just above 40. Both meetings between Denver and Kansas City saw the losing club register single-digit points, and it’s not crazy to think one club may continue that pattern — we’re looking at you, the phony Denver Broncos.
Denver Broncos
For as much as the Broncos went into last week thinking they could keep up with Baltimore, or at the very least hold Baltimore’s offence in check, it became a reality check for Denver. Four failed fourth down attempts parlayed with one successful red zone attempt on four chances led to a disastrous afternoon for the Broncos. The only touchdown on the day came via a Bo Nix touchdown reception form Courtland Sutton too. Nix ended up with 223 passing yards, and over half went to his favourite target in Sutton. With 499 receiving yards on the season, Sutton’s got nearly triple the production of any other Broncos pass-catcher.
On an injury note, safety P.J. Locke (thumb) practised Wednesday after missing the last two weeks. Centre Luke Wattenberg (ankle) was limited after an IR stint, and linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) opened his 21-day win to return — so Denver’s getting healthier.
Kansas City Chiefs
You know when you think “Well, it’s not fair that (insert team name here) got (insert player name here)”? Well, that’s how you can explain Kansas City and DeAndre Hopkins. The 32-year-old trade acquisition led Chiefs receivers with eight catches for 86 yards and two scores in last Monday’s overtime win against Tampa Bay. Tight end Travis Kelce finally cracked 100 receiving yards in a game this season too, doing so on 14 receptions Monday.
And Chiefs Nation can breath a sigh of relief, as Patrick Mahomes practised Wednesday after hurting his ankle during the Tampa Bay game. Mahomes is proving this season he’s a Bonafide winner, and he’ll need his all against this stingy Broncos defence. The two-time MVP currently has the third-best odds to win the award this season at +450.
