The Buffalo Bills suffered their first loss of the season last week, falling short to the Miami Dolphins. They completely outplayed Miami and had ample opportunities to win, yet simply made too many mistakes.

That loss is costly as they’re now 2-1 instead of 3-0, and are behind in the early race in the AFC East and AFC overall. Now they make a trip to Baltimore to face the Ravens, who are 2-1.

Lamar Jackson and company are one of the best shows in the league, scoring over 24 points in each of their first three games. They are coming off a big win against the New England Patriots. Can they turn aside another AFC East squad this week?

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo played about as good of a game as a team could last week and it still resulted in a loss. Quarterback Josh Allen threw for 400 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions while rushing for an additional 47. They out-gained Miami 31-15 with first downs, 497-212 in yards and 40:40-19:20 in time of possession…and somehow lost. Mistakes were the difference as the Bills stumbled in the red zone (two-for-four) while Miami didn’t (three-for-three).

The Bills will also look to lean more on the ground attack. After all, Allen can’t be tasked with 63 pass attempts per game for the rest of this year. The ground attack had racked up 62 yards on two carries, but just mustered 53 yards on the other 21 carries combined.

As they travel on the road to face quality teams like Baltimore, they’ll have to have more balance to keep on earning the wins.

Baltimore Ravens

Five touchdowns for Lamar Jackson made this performance one of the best in the league last week. Jackson had 218 passing yards, four touchdowns (and only one interception) with 107 rushing yards and another touchdown. There certainly isn’t going to be a lack of rushing by the quarterbacks in this matchup.

Jackson is without question the lifeblood of the Ravens entire offense but he’ll be up against the league’s No. 1 defense in this one. The Bills allow just 57.5 rushing yards per game (second in the NFL) and that matchup is going to be key. Players like Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman should be targeted often against a banged-up Buffalo secondary. If they get going, the run game should be tougher to stop down the stretch of the game.
