Bengals vs. Bears Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction

The Cincinnati Bengals will take a trip down to Chicago to face off against the Bears in Week 2 of the regular season. Cincinnati edged out the Minnesota Vikings in their opener, winning 27-24 with a walk off field goal in overtime. The Chicago Bears weren’t nearly as lucky as they were stomped by the Los Angeles Rams, losing 34-14.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bengals have not been a reliable road bet of late as they are just 1-18-1 straight up in their past 20 games played on the road. However, Cincinnati has been pulling themselves together when it comes to the spread. They are 3-1 ATS in just their past four contests.

Chicago is 0-3 ATS in their last three games played at home when coming in as the favorite in the matchup. They are also 1-5 ATS in their last six Week 2 games.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals surprised a lot of people with how they played in their season opener. It was Joe Burrow’s first game back since suffering his horrible knee injury in the middle of his rookie season and he looked solid. Burrow was great in his return but the biggest story was the turnaround of Ja’Marr Chase. The rookie wideout struggled with drops all preseason and there were tons of people questioning whether he was worth a first round pick. He came out and went wild with 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The Bengals also rode Joe Mixon to the finish line, handing the ball to him 29 times and allowing him to go for 127 yards. This team looked to play with a lot of fire and intensity to start the year off, it will be interesting to see if they keep that going in Week 2. A big key will be their defense. For much of the day, they looked like an improved unit as they muzzled the Vikings. They even forced the game-changing turnover in overtime. However, they also let the Vikings climb out of a big hole late in the game, so this unit hasn’t exactly turned things around.

Chicago Bears

Chicago looked awful in their first game as the Rams rolled them up. Los Angeles is one of the best teams in the league, but the Bears play was ugly. Andy Dalton threw for 206 yards and an interception while Justin Fields came in and ran for a touchdown, sparking more quarterback controversy. David Montgomery looked fantastic, though, taking 16 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. Nothing else really materialized for them as their defense was constantly allowing big plays down the field and couldn’t get much pressure on Matthew Stafford.

Most people expected the offense to be a question mark but the defense to be solid. That wasn’t the case in Week 1. If the defense is a weak spot, this will be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Chicago is going to have to drastically step up their game.
