Bears vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction

Chicago’s Monday night loss versus the Vikings marked their third straight, and for Seattle a Tuesday night loss at Los Angeles snapped their two-game win streak.

Now, both clubs are playing for pride — unless Seattle wins out and gets a ton of help. Chicago’s still rolling out rookie quarterback Justin Fields as they look ahead to the future, while in Seattle Russel Wilson’s days as a Seahawk may be limited after spending all 10 seasons of his career there.

Kickoff at Lumen Field goes at 4:05 p.m. EST. The Seahawks are a seven-point favourite with the over total listed at 43.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Bears’ 4-10 record matches their record against the spread. In fact they’re 2-5 at home and on the road straight up, and 2-5 at home and on the road against spread. Where both this teams line up is going under the total. Chicago’s 9-5 to the under in 2021, Seattle 10-3-1.

Lack of offence from each club has played a large role in their respective under trends. Seattle’s 24th in points per game, and Chicago 29th with 17.1. Both teams also rank in the bottom six when it comes to passing yards per game, which puts a cloud over what appears to be an enticing quarterback matchup between Fields and Wilson.

Chicago Bears

Chicago’s 17-9 loss against the Vikings was their latest offensive malfunction. While the Bears generated 370 yards of offence, a good chunk came while trailing by double-digits and three fumbles lost is what mattered most.

With 285 yards through the air, Fields reached over 230 passing yards for just the second time in his career and finished seven yards shy of a career high. Fields now has seven touchdown passes and 10 interceptions on this season, and the lack of overall success in the statistics and win-loss columns have certainly put head coach Matt Nagy on the hot seat.

Seattle Seahawks

Similar to Chicago, the offence just wasn’t there for Seattle in Week 15. Wilson passed for just 156 yards on 31 attempts and had a quarterback rating of 28.5. Parlay that passing attack with 80 rushing yards on 19 carries, and 10 points is what you get in a 20-10 loss at the Rams.

It’s now Seattle’s first losing season since 2011, and they have a 0.1% chance of making the playoffs. Wilson’s also never thrown fewer than 20 touchdowns in a season, and only has 11 through 16 games. Times are much different in Seattle; their 2-4 home record summarizes it up.
