49ers vs. Seahawks TNF Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction

These are the only two clubs with a realistic shot to win the West. The Niners are 3-point favourites on the NFL odds.

TNF Point Spread and Betting Analysis

With the Arizona Cardinals still rebuilding and the Los Angeles Rams hit hard by injuries and in a bit of transition as well, the NFC West title likely will come down to either San Francisco or Seattle – although the way things are going, it might only take a 9-8 mark. The 49ers are +110 favourites and the Seahawks +240.

The Niners were heavy preseason leaders to win the division a third straight year but have been gutted by injuries themselves, led by superstar running back and 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey. He hasn’t played yet this season and his return is still TBA. He reportedly has bilateral Achilles tendinitis, meaning he has it in both legs. McCaffrey recently went to Germany for treatment. I don’t think it’s out of the question he misses the season. Backup Jordan Mason has been excellent in his place, but McCaffrey is a special talent.

This will be the 53rd all-time meeting between the rivals, including playoffs, with Seattle leading 30-22 despite lost having five straight. San Francisco won each by at least 16 points last season. The 49ers somewhat pulling away in the series could be partly why Seattle coach Pete Carroll was forced out after last season and replaced by former Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.

San Francisco 49ers

The Niners were stunned at home by Arizona on Sunday, 24-23, blowing a 23-10 third-quarter lead. That same Cardinals team had been embarrassed at home by Washington, 42-14, the week before. It was the second time this season the 49ers blew a double-digit lead and lost to a division rival as they also did in Week 3 vs. the Rams. Before this season, the Niners were 51-2 under coach Kyle Shanahan when leading by double digits in the fourth quarter. Brock Purdy became the fastest QB to reach 50 TD passes in franchise history in Sunday’s loss, doing so in his 30th game. But he threw two picks, and the offence managed only one touchdown. The other came via a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown. Kicker Jake Moody left the game in the second quarter with a high right ankle sprain after getting hurt on a tackle on a kick return. The team will have to sign a kicker this week because Moody will be out. Safety Talanoa Hufanga (wrist) also left in the first half. San Francisco is 2-7 ATS in its past nine games.

Seattle Seahawks

As good as Seattle’s defence looked the first three weeks is as bad as it has looked in back-to-back losses. Seattle was a 7-point home favourite Sunday and upset by a bad Giants team, 29-20. New York totaled 420 yards despite missing its No. 1 running back and wide receiver. With the Seahawks lining up for a potential tying field goal with just under a minute left, it was blocked by the Giants and returned for the clinching TD. The Seahawks had linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Derick Hall and cornerback Riq Woolen leave early with injuries. Nwosu was making his season debut off a knee injury but left in the second quarter with a thigh injury and was unable to return. The Seahawks were again with defensive tackle Byron Murphy II (hamstring) and outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee). Sunday was the first day in NFL history with two defensive touchdowns and one was via Seattle’s Rayshawn Jenkins, a 102-yard fumble return score that was the longest defensive TD in franchise history. The Seahawks are 1-5-1 ATS in their past seven games.
