49ers vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

The Philadelphia Eagles improved to an NFL-best 10-1 with 37-34 overtime win against Buffalo last week, in what will go down as one of the more exciting games of the 2023 season. The NFC West-leading Niners won their third straight game with a 31-13 manhandling of Seattle in Week 12, improving their record to 8-3 on the year.

San Francisco opened as a three-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, while the total is set at 46.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These teams met in last year’s NFC Championship game and likely will again this year. Philly won last year’s meeting 31-7 against a very banged up 49ers team. The Eagles went on to lose 38-35 against Kansas City in Super Bowl 57.

San Francisco generally gets up for intraconference games, going 15-2 in their last 17 games against NFC opponents. They’ve been an average cover option in 2023 as they are 6-5 against the spread overall with covers in three of six road games. The 49ers are split evenly on the Over/Under for the year, although the total has gone Under in four of their last five games against Philly.

The Eagles are riding a five-game win streak and they’re a perfect 5-0 at home this season. They’re 7-2-2 ATS overall, including 4-0-1 ATS in their last five. Philadelphia has managed to put points on the board at home, hitting the Over in four of five games at Lincoln Financial Field.

San Francisco 49ers

Running back Christian McCaffrey led the way for San Francisco in last week’s win over the Seahawks, rushing for 114 yards and two TDs on 19 carries. It was the continuation of a dominant season for McCaffrey, who leads the NFL in rushing yards (939) and is second in rushing TDs (11). No other player has cracked 800 rushing yards this season. At +2500, McCaffrey has the best MVP odds of any non-QB. Speaking of quarterbacks, Brock Purdy did just enough to get the win, passing for 209 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Purdy ranks eighth in the NFL in passing yards (2,871) and tied for seventh in passing TDs (19) while leading the league in QBR (112.3).

The 49ers’ defence came up big last week, sacking Seattle six times. Joey Bosa’s two sacks put him at 7.5 for the season. San Francisco has made a habit of getting to quarterbacks lately, recording 15 sacks over the last three games. One member of the defence who won’t be on the field Sunday is backup safety George Odum, who is expected to miss two to four months after suffering a biceps injury last week.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts was once again the hero for Philadelphia in their overtime win against Buffalo. Hurts had two rushing TDs, including the game-winning touchdown in OT, and he also passed for 200 yards three TDs and an interception. He remains the favourite to win MVP, passing for 2,697 yards with 18 TDs and 10 interceptions on the season. Hurts has also rushed for 410 yards and his 11 rushing TDs is second-most in the NFL.

One troubling trend that continued last week was the Eagles’ tendency to play with fire. It was the second straight game Philadelphia won after trailing 17-7 at the half. They ended up beating KC 21-17 the week before. The Eagles trailed by 10 in the third quarter last week and by three early in OT. It’s become a habit for the team to trail at the half as they’ve done so in their last four games, although they ended up winning all four games.
