49ers vs. Buccaneers Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
The Niners are coming off a bye following their 30-24 Week 8 win over Dallas. Tampa Bay just played on Monday Night Football, falling 30-24 in overtime against the Chiefs.
San Francisco opened as a 6.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 48.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Early betting action has dropped this number down to 49ers -5.5 as of Wednesday afternoon, while the total has been bet up to 50.5. It’s worth noting that San Francisco has won the last three head-to-heads, with the total failing to surpass 48.0 in any of those games.
These teams are both middling cover options. The Bucs are 5-4 against the spread, while the Niners are 4-4 ATS. The edge might go to Tampa Bay as they are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog.
High scoring games have been a trend for each team. The Buccaneers have hit the Over in seven of nine games (six straight) and San Fran has finished above the number in five of eight.
San Francisco 49ers
The Niners have a massive rest advantage after last playing on October 27. Brock Purdy bounced back from a tough first half in that game and finished the day with 260 passing yards and one TD. George Kittle caught the touchdown pass and put up a season-high 128 receiving yards. Isaac Guerendo and Purdy each ran in TDs. Keep in mind, San Francisco went 16-2 following Week 9 byes in each of the last two season, reaching the NFC title game in 2022 and the Super Bowl last year.
The big news this week is the potential return of a massive reinforcement for the 49ers offence. Keep an eye on the status of running back and reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey, who could make his season debut in Tampa. McCaffrey, who has been out with Achilles tendinitis in both legs, is back at practice and could suit up as soon as this week depending on how his body responds.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs won’t have rest on their side as they just played a gruelling overtime game against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. Baker Mayfield looked solid with 200 passing yards and two TDs, but head coach Todd Bowles took a lot of heat for kicking a game-tying extra point rather than going for two and the win. Mayfield has thrown multiple TD passes in six straight games. He’s thrown an NFL-high 23 passing TDs this season and he ranks second in passing yards (2,389).
Tampa Bay’s defence has been a weak point all season and that’s even more concerning considering Purdy sliced them apart for 333 passing yards and three TDs when they met last season. The Bucs rank 30th in average total yards allowed (386.7), 30th in passing yards allowed (255.9) and 29th in points allowed (27.0) per game.
